I hate you.

"Yeah, you won't know them." Try me "*Insert quite popular band, but because they're a musical flid they won't know of them." And then they usually resign to the fact I was right, or try and save face. "Yeah, I know them." My reply - "Oh, do you? What's your favourite record?" as well as other questions about the band. Then they're like "...Er, well I've heard of them." I fucking hate these people who claim to like music but probably don't even have 200 albums in their collection. I really don't feel arrogance when I talk down to these people. |
Well it would be different if they were lying for some reason but yeah, ultimately I only say stuff like that because I have judged that because of their taste in music or lack of interest in music, odds are i'll be talking about something they know nothing about.

I can't tolerate people who have odd songs on their iPod and their entire music collection can fit on a 2GB iPod. I need 160GB, so I judge them and I feel no remorse. |
I don't feel better. I have an interest in music that others just don't. The only time I would ever be tempted to be a **** because of it is if someone was lying and trying to talk themselves up like their taste in music made them superior or something.
Thats the reason I pass my opinion on films but try not to talk about them like I know anything. |
I don't say "oh you probably won't have heard of them." anymore.
I just say the name for them to usually not have a clue, and we all get on with our lives. The amount of times I've had people saying "oh yea... I've heard of them." even though they know nothing about them is pathetic. I still can't tolerate people who claim to have a love for music, but barely own any music. You have a few singles, music is NOT your life you absolute fucking flid. |

I don't have 200 albums. And I'm very passionate about the type of music I listen to. T'was a very pretentious statement CS :O.
|
I have just over 1,200 and I wouldn't consider myself a connoisseur or anything - I have a long long way to go. Maybe it's just my standards when listening to music, I don't think there's any pretense there. But if there is, fuck it.
I personally feel to have a real passion or love for music, you'll have 400+ albums. I think 3,000/4,000 albums is on the money. And not just quantity over quality either. 3,000/4,000 means lots of records, lots of genres, lots of eras and it makes for a very diverse collection of music. |
I really don't think the number of albums you own determines how passionate you are about music at all. I don't understand how anyone could say it does?
Ridiculous statement imo. |
