I feel peoples pain when it comes to migraines. I had one recently but luckily i dont get them much anymore. I used to suffer from bad headaches when i was younger and when i was a kid and would occasionaly get a migraine.

In recent years i would get one following a seizure. My epileptic seizures have been under control for the last 18 months or so now but for 5 years before that they were frequent and basically untreated because every different course of medication i was prescribed didn't help. Some of the migraines would be gone within the day or at least ease to a headache which was much easier to deal with, but some of them would last several days. Id be basically incapacitated. Id need complete darkness, even the light from my phone would hurt my eyes and make me feel physically sick and of course i couldn't keep any medication down that would have helped to kill it so id have to just wait it out.

Its really not fun when it takes a couple of days to get over the migraine and then id have another seizure and it would start all over again.

I'm so sorry mojo, that sounds horrible I know exactly what you mean about the complete darkness and not being able to keep anything down and everything - it's just horrendous. It's interesting that you mention about epileptic seizures though because they seem to have a strong correlation with migraines - my neurologist who treats me for chronic migraines also specialises in epilepsy and I've often been prescribed epilepsy drugs which help with my migraines. I find it really interesting... brains are weird.

It's good to hear that your seizures/ migraines have been under control for a while, though.

Yeah im glad i dont have to worry about that anymore. There were a few times id call in sick for work with a migraine after having a seizure and then because of the amount of the time it was taking to feel better, and having another seizure just as i was getting better, id still be off work a week later and need a sick note from the doctor. I also once got a warning because there had been a couple of occasions where i hadnt rang in sick and hadnt realised that id forgotten to do this. It is obviously quite hard to make a sick call when you have a migraine because making the call would make me sick. It felt like torture.

I'm lucky enough to nopt suffer from migraines, butmy wife gets them and the poor girl REALLY suffers because of 'em... I basically have to isolate her from any noise whatsoever, put her in a dark room and turn off any TVs, etc and then let her sleep... ok in summer when I can take the kids out to the park... baaaaaaaad in winter when there's nowhere to go...

Yeah i can imagine. My mother gets migraines and always has so i knew how bad they were before i started to get them. You know, they wouldnt be half as bad if you were able to sleep. Whenever I can manage to sleep then its so much easier to get rid of a migraine, its just unfortunately the migraine itself usually prevents me from sleeping. Theres just too much pain to deal with to ever be relaxed enough.

Yeah this is basically what mine are like. When I was in hospital for them I became addicted to pethadine injections. Sooo good.

Wow... so how did they get you unhooked from pethadine?? Assuming you're not still in that state...

Well, eventually the immense pain I was experiencing went away, so I didn't require them and was quite happy without them (because they basically just stab you in the thigh with them, not that pleasant). But while I had the migraines, I was constantly wanting the injections to make the pain dissolve, you can only have about 1 or 2 every 24 hours though. But I swear, they were so good. As soon as you feel the sting of the needle the pain just melts away and you feel like sleeping.

I sound like a junkie.
