We just have high school and college. Our college = your university. I suppose our community college might be a good approximation for your college though.

We have secondary school up to the age of 16, then ends mandatory education. You can then go to college or sixth form if you want to continue learning which is two more years and essentially preparation for university.
Sixth forms are attached to secondary schools, colleges are separate institutions sort of like university except not such a big deal that they have halls nor do people move around the country for them, and obviously the level of education isn't advanced as a university.

Yeah my mom got arrested last week for charges including - possesion of crack cocain, driving under suspension, driving while intoxicated, probation violation, domestic violence, and being involved in a shooting (she was driving a car while her drug dealer was shooting at another car.)
Good job mom. You screwed me. Now I have to pay the bills. Rant over. |

Here college basically refers to all 3rd-level education after secondary school. I went to an Institute of Technology and we always referred to it as college, and some of my friends who go/went to universities always use the word college. It just rolls easier off the tongue i guess.

So I flew back to Melbourne for Easter to visit family and attend to a few things. My car, which is still living in Melbourne, was completely obliterated thanks to a freak hail storm and flooding:
My car: I guess it's karma against my stupidity for not selling it before I moved to NZ! Argh. |

Anyway, I found out today from the insurance company that it's a financial write-off. So goodbye car and hello pay-out. Not so much of a bitch anymore! But still sad that my beloved car has come to the end of its life. |

But ... will it not still drive? Why is it written off when essentially it's just a **** ton of aesthetic work? I'd say keep the car if it'll drive, yours will be the most badassed looking car on the road.

I know right, because it still drives fine! It's purely a financial write-off - it would cost more to repair it than the car is worth. Plus here's the ridiculous catch: in the state of Australia that the car is registered, once it has been written-off (whether a financial write-off or mechanical write-off) to get it re-registered you have to repair it back to normal. Because on the car's history it now has that it has been written-off. For some reason they don't distinguish between cars that are still mechanically fine even though they been written-off. It's such a bullshit law! Ridiculous! But anyway, I'm not complaining, because I no longer live in Australia and can use the money I get from the insurance pay out to buy a car in NZ
