Two wrongs don't make a right. That's why Dana can't start getting aggressive. I'd also be careful about doing the recording thing - that's what HR is for.
Show them the article and tell them his comment. That alone should result in a little 'talk' and most likely a pretty stern warning.

There's not a company operating today in the US that isn't terrified of being found legally negligent when it comes to any sort of on the job sexual harassment.
Play by the rules. Report him for the article.
Then he either gets fired or he'll be walking on eggshells around her from then on - if he values the job.

Yeah I don't agree about the two wrongs thing but I do agree about not saying a word to him and going straight to HR. Any argument you get into could potentially color any later discourse with higher ups against you and honestly trying to get him to leave her alone by herself still leaves him there to **** with other people.

If nothing comes of it you can always slash his tires.

Sometimes I wish I could do that movie thing where I coach her on what to say in an earpiece.

As for what we're doing about this...we're gunna letit slide and hope he has the sense to realize he's f*cking trash and never mentions it again. Dana is going to stop talking to him pretty much 100% and hope he gets the point that she hates his guts. I told her if he mentions it in any way one more time, that she is to go right to HR. She's afraid of retaliation. I can't force her to sock him in the buts but it's what I want to happen.

We'll see how it plays.

I spent 12 years working for a company with over 5000 employees and in my experience, guys like him never change their behavior. They typically continue to behave that way until they eventually get fired for behaving that way.

Yeah, I agree. Silence will be taken as either fear or (god help us) assent. This ****er will just get emboldened, not to mention HR may ask why she waited so long. I'd do it now, today, or tomorrow latest. Don't forget, as other said (and I know of course it's only Dana you're concerned with) others may be suffering as she does, and this wankstain may only choose to move on to a new target. He needs to be called out. Ideally, put down, but he needs to hear a message loud and clear that this is not ****ing okay and it needs to come from someone with power over him. Ideally publicly.

I'm with you guys but I'm not going to pressure my wife into doing something she is uncomfortable with. She's made up her mind. I'm still debating on whether or not I'm going to secretly posion his food.
