You sell gift certificates?

I don’t blame you for selling them. It’s an incredible fad for businesses. Trade cash you can spend anywhere for cash you can only spend here. It astonishes me that actually works but if you take my line of reasoning to it’s conclusion cash or something you make yourself are the only sensible gifts. Why give me socks? Just give me the 5 bucks and if I need socks that’s what I’ll buy. But I’m socially retarded. Anyway, because gift certificates are incredibly advantageous to you I recommend being nice as **** to anybody who has one because if they word of mouth they were happy with it you can continue on with one of the most incredible rackets out there. 1) they might never be redeemed which is a huge profit mark-up 2) they bring someone new into the store - maybe some rich douche who wastes money buying **** that’s free online 3) maybe they’ll leave money on it even if they buy something with it - selling those things are a ****ing goldmine |
Yeah. We have such a variety of merchandise that it's impossible to get somebody a gift here for the most part. Plus we have such a revolving inventory. Every week is different so people tend to wait for something they like instead of finding something they like just because they're here. Certs work well for that.
As for being nice, well, I try my best, but sometimes I just get asked a f*cking asinine question and I can't contain myself. We have 119 Google reviews for our shop. 111 are five stars, 7 are four stars, and 1 dumbass gave us a two star review because "Seems like a specfic clientele type of place" which is idiot for "I don't like this stuff and I came here by mistake". Like, mofo, do you give a coffee shop two stars because you don't like coffee? Still mad at that. Still, that's pretty stellar. |

Concept: Gift Cards
Idea: someone put some actual thought into getting me this card because they know that I like to shop "there" instead of some lazy-ass "here's a twenty and spend it on something" throwaway gesture. Finality: as "attractive" as the idea may be, there is no inherent conspiracy behind gift cards. |

Yeah, true, but it's not because of some grand conspiracy
against the buying public. There are multiple, much less incredulous, reasons for them not being used: they get lost ... the person who received it really doesn't like that particular store ... the person got their legs caught in a lawn mower accident and can't drive to the store ... I have a $50 online card for Dusty Groove that I haven't spent yet because I can't find anything to spend it on there. |

As far as Dusty Groove goes, I didn't know they had such an online presence. I forget where you live or if I ever knew at all but if you're in the Chicago area and are referring to not finding anything at their store location, Reckless Records is just an overall better Chicago digging experience IMO. |
