In the past year I've taken a 30% cut in salary in order to stay afloat. My first and second mortgages, (took a loan to fund a promising start up that crashed and burned right alongside the stock market in 2007/08.) + car payment combined are ~ $2,700 a month. My cash nest egg has been decimated. Lin, who use to work with me at the office that's a 15 minute walk from my house, is now having to drive 60 miles a day which is killing us on gas since the traffic makes it, on average, a 1.5 to 2 hour commute every day.

10 years ago I could have been labeled as mildly well off. These days I food shop at ****ing Walmart in order to make ends meet.
