I suppose no one can honestly say how they would react given certain circumstances in a relationship dynamic --at least without having experienced them -- but physical confrontations with someone you supposedly love (be it the predatory abuse of a single party, or equal participation, co-dependent violence) is a sign of a person/persons with terminally stunted maturity. Even with teens who engage in such behavior, I would be dubious that their nature would change to the point that they would "grow out of it". I'm a man-child with anger issues myself, so I can't help but worry that under the right (or wrong) circumstances, that I would shame myself in such a way (not having been in any romantic relationships I really have little experience to say either way TBH). But I'd like to think that the idea of hitting a woman would be so repulsive to me that I just couldn't do it. I just don't understand how you get to the point of closing your fist and making contact with a loved one. I've never done it to a non-romantic partner, and never had any desire to -- beyond of course the normal state of being pissed off at a friend acting like a douchebag -- so I'd like to think that it would never come to that, but it's still a terrifying thought. There are so few people that I've ever felt any real connection with, so it would feel like a betrayal, not just to that person, but to myself for sabotaging something which would be so rare and special to me. **** that ****.

Thank god I only had to do it twice, both times pretty much justified, but both times I couldn't bring myself to do it with full force. Just feels wrong and terrible.

As far as a stronger attacking a weaker, I'm not entirely sure this was the case, as she is the soldier in this situation, and he is a civilian. I realize that it doesn't sound like it should make a huge difference, but it does, as she has hand-to-hand combat training that would make her formidable opponent. My best guess as he didn't have any injuries and the medic said he was basically fine, and no substantial injuries, that he surprised her over and quickly over powered her. From the investigative stand point, that's what the evidence is telling us. Him being a civilian makes the situation that more complicated. We, as the Army, can't court martial a civilian - which is the military's legal process of trail and punishment. However, we can transfer him over to the Sheriff's Department, and maintain partial jurisdiction over the case. We can bar him from coming back onto post and limiting his access to her via that way, but we have no control over the civilian World so an order of protection against him for her would fall under the civilian court's duties. But, we all know how that works. EDIT: As a side note, if you've seen Plankton's picture in the picture gallery dude was about Plankton's build and such.

In 35 years together I have never struck Linda. She's gotten me mad enough on a few occasions but that's what walls and doors are for. She's freaking belted me a few times through the years though in a complete drunken haze.

Yeah, hitting a woman is pretty disgusting behavior. The only person I've ever maliciously attacked (aside from combat training in the Army and some martial arts when I was younger) was the perv that went after my daughter when she was 15 (he was 40+). He had also gone after a couple of my friends daughters over the years. I pretty much did it for the sake of those innocent girls. Got him pretty good too, but I felt really bad about it afterwards. He went to the police and I was arrested, but community service was my sentence, and I had a fairly good time since the officers in charge learned why I was there.
On the other end of the spectrum you have my Daughter's mother, who backed herself into a doorknob and told the police I had hit her in the back with a hammer. Off to jail I went. After that, I wizened up and would only be around her if I had witnesses, which came into play when she hit herself in the head with a brick and called the cops. The cops laughed and told her to get the **** off my property, as I was in the process of removing her from my home. Good times man, good times. Violence sucks.
