Yes I'm generally broke as hell. Still, where's the basis for all that you're saying will definitely happen? Sounds to me like you're just posturing by saying that few people will give a **** if things were to change. I don't tip the people at Home Depot, the dispensary, vets, and beyond more businesses and I still get stellar service from them.

You can say that because of the standard of tips that's in place that regular servicemen in that industry will just take the future to wank, but there's also job security, which you've mentioned before. A system being in place doesn't justify said system. Having tips incorporated into dinner bills but I doubt that it would drive away the high tipping market.

lol dunno if you can say most people tbh... maybe it's a cultural thing since you're from canada and canadians are notoriously polite

but i know people who won't tip regardless of the service

and i've encountered plenty of people who will be like "this waiter is ****.. don't give them a good tip"

Sorry Nine but it just sounds like you're tight. How can it be wrong to show your appreciation for a job well done? I tip everyone: waiters, taximen, contractors. People gotta live. do you tip your cashier when you go to the store?

or do you tip the bus driver if you get on the bus?

what about the guy that picks up your trash, do you leave him a little something extra as well?

or if you call the cops after your house is broken into, do you slyly try to slip them some cash? i'm sure that goes over well

or what about when you call tech support for one of your devices... do you make sure to wire them a couple ruppees for the trouble?

maybe it is. most people I know wont pay a tip under a standard amount no matter what really (unless its next level horrendous, like we're sitting for the bill for an hour or something). I have one friend who'll occasionally not tip well and frankly its embarrassing. it shouldn't be but I hate it.

im not saying don't pay them, im saying don't make me responsible for determining their wage. how many times can I say inclusive gratuity haha

now you're saying you tip everyone that society arbitrarily decides you should tip, which is what ninetales was questioning/whining about in the first place, making your charge that he 'just seems tight' a clear indication that you haven't properly grasped the argument you are trying to dismiss/discredit

i was trying to plant the seed that might lead to you question your convictions without having to spoon feed the logic to you, cause to me that is what is kind of boring these days
