Just for arguments sake, has lil had celiac disease confirmed? Or gluten intolorence confirmed by a doctor? I have irritable bowel syndrome which can be attributed to by gluten/lactose or FEMA foods. It was diagnosed as the broad umbrella term but it would take months of investigation with food to figure out if it is even food related. I think in lil's case if the symptoms are reoccurrent and she has gone a month without gluten and then had it again with said symptoms that would also be a basis for concern.

I can say from seeing it first hand, it's a serious thing. She's not just doing it because it's "the cool thing to do". I've seen what eating the wrong things can do. I don't know about other people that get off gluten, but if the argument continues about LiL supposedly choosing to not eat gluten, than i'm personally going to start taking offense to it because it's unnecessary and offensive to assume such things.

Of course. I can accept lil saying it's not for the trend, because I can trust what people like her say. I am one to take offence about this kind of thing because people in the past have treated me like a hypochondriac. Yes, 20+ visits to the hospital and 3 surgeries (4 by tomorrow) in the last 2.5 years is fake.

Like you've never met a skeptic before.

So...if she hasn't been diagnosed then there's still a chance that it could be psychologically based like with my aunt (who "overcame" it the next time that we met after that event). She legitimately felt sick, vomited, and shat all over the place once she knew that she had gluten in her system, even though she didn't have any disease to begin with. Stuff like that revolving around trends and such just make it difficult for me to accept a case like your girls', especially if she hasn't been diagnosed. If she were medically diagnosed with celiac disorder, I would concede and accept that she has it. But until then, I'm still not sold.

There are a lot of things that the mind can do to our bodies. My doubt is no personal attack on lil, it's just that these fads can play a part in contributing to the crazy **** our brain can do to us. Because of that I remain skeptical.

So basically what you're saying is that if one thinks hard enough, you can control the way your digestive system digests it's food. Now that I do not buy. That's like telling a blind person they can see 20/20 if they mentally believe that they can. Some people aren't meant to be able to digest certain food, and in this case, LiL cannot digest the type of food that she can't eat.

Somatic symptom disorder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's a very real thing. When she's diagnosed, I'll concede. Until then or if you choose not to, carry on.

However, in this case we are talking about the human body denying certain types of food. If you want to say that there's a psychological thing going on with people who claim to have celiac / IBS / lactose intolerant, I do have to strongly disagree. I don't think people have control over the things the body can't take.
