I'm gluten-free because I'd rather not spend my entire life shitting/vomiting/having headaches and extreme exhaustion and/or dying from starvation from my body's inability to process and metabolize gluten.

I'm aware, you've told me. I still don't buy it sorry, the mind is too powerful not to factor in. You keep doing what you're doing though, it doesn't bother me.

Oh snap. Are you gonna let him talk to you like that, LiL?

You can't mind-**** your way out of an allergic reaction. It's
pretty insensitive to insinuate that anyone can. Don't want a reaction to poison ivy? Just pretend it doesn't exist?

My aunt allegedly has it as well and when we lied to her and told her this stuffing was gluten free, she felt fine. Later that night we told her we duped her and she ran to the bathroom. The symptoms can be entirely real but that doesn't mean you have the disease.

That and the general dad surrounding gluten make it hard for me to believe lil. No detriment to her, it sucks if she actually does have it, but I'm not buying it.

I don't know the entire context to Lil's story, but celiac is a real and serious thing. Although unless it comes directly from a doctor or specialist, I can understand the doubt. In the case of your aunt, it sounds like your family took the chance of playing with her health just to prove her wrong? That can be dangerous :/

I almost died 10 years ago because I couldn't digest my food and nobody could figure out why.

I. Almost. Died.

^Sorry to hear that, but I'm defending creationism at this point. I won't be convinced otherwise.

That's why we waited 3+ hours until we told her. The amount of people afflicted with celiac disease hovers from .3 to 2 percent in the US. While it is a real disease, it's also one of the first things that comes to mind when people self diagnose. If lil really does have it, it's a shame that stupid trends like these 1) exist at all and 2) push people like myself to be too cynical to believe someone when they say they have it because of all the people who are full of it when they say that. I've seen around 15 girls (haven't seen a guy who "had it" yet) complain about their celiac disease on their FB posts and how they totally get sick whenever they eat gluten.

There's just so much **** all over the subject I just toss it all in the same pile.
