Its part the actual sound differences, part the ritual of putting on a record and keeping your player functioning, and for me, a huge part just collecting. Nothing like going to a store and sifling through thousands of things for something you like at a price you can love. Although I think with the vinyl comeback, a lot of people are buying brand new records online for a particular colored or splatter wax style. Those do look cool as hell, but as soon as you get into buying new, it seems like you lose a valuable part of the experience.

Honestly, I don't listen to them on a regular basis, just sometimes or when there's company. Keeps things in better condition, and sometimes I'm just straight up not too picky on how my music sounds, I just need background music for doing things. A phone with an infinite playlist, hooked to decent speakers, suffices.

Nor me. The only reason we used them back then was that we had no other choice. If you wanted to record an album it was tape or nothing. I would not go back to them now. Very unreliable and who's into turning over the tape to get to side 2? :yikes:
I just collected vinyl because, again, at the time that was all there was. Once CDs came out and my favourite albums were available I replaced them. I still have most of my albums but there's dust all over them. I no longer have a turntable.

I have never got the "warmer sound" thing to be honest. For me, the hassle of putting on a vinyl LP as opposed to pushing a button just isn't worth it. Also remember, records can skip so you can't bounce around your room on a pogo stick as I like to do... :D

There are life-sized posters of this poseur all over the public transportation system where I live. Every time I take the bus there's at least one person who sees the poster, sees me, and appears to think I'm the dude on the poster. I've even been asked. I don't know why I find it so irritating but yeah, it is.

There was a poster girl for one of my store's donation drive ads, and her face was on everything. She had long hair and glasses and people constantly asked me if I was the girl on the poster. We looked nothing alike?!? People are so stupid, it's unbelievable.

Even so. However, the life expectancy of that sound with vinyl records isn't very long with the potential of warping and scratching. Though, I guess scratching could apply to CD's as well.
