Manuals don't have cruise control either, but if you prefer manuals then cruise control isn't for you

I drive both. I'm a man in touch with my feminine side. Both are practical.

What's the point of cruise control anyways? Are people just so lazy that they can't even keep their foot on the accelerator?

Yes. Next question.

Cruise and/or paddle controls were designed for older people initially. They also were designed for long road trips. Its nice to be able to stretch your legs when you've been driving for endless hours all while driving with your hands. Personally i've never used a cruise control. I have it on my truck but i'd never use it. I have primarily driven manuals my entire life, but once I bought a 4 wheel drive truck there was no looking back.

I'm going to London soon and i feel unprepared. Not in the "do i have everything packed" sense, but in the "I don't want to have to see family i don't remember and pretend to like them. i don't want to have to go out to pubs every night and be social and pretend to care about being a tourist" way. I simply just don't have the energy for that. it's difficult, tiring, and some days i just want to lie down. I probably sound ungrateful but I'd rather explore london myself or with friends rather than being ushered around by my parents and have to be social 24/7.

Maybe tell your folks you want a few days for yourself to explore. I'm sure they would understand, I can't see them forcing you to do something you don't want. Or just leave really early before they awaken in the morning.

I have to agree with Fred. Speak up and let them know how you feel. Tell them almost the same exact things you told us and see what they say.

I have a manual with cruise control Which is handy in Australia because sometimes you are driving across a long, flat, road for hours at a time with no other cars in sight. I can definitely tell you it has its uses over here.

Oh cool, I didn't think it was possible for a manual to have cruise control. Cruise is totally impractical here because the traffic is so bad. Plus in the city you're always stopping at the lights, and cruise goes off when the brakes are applied right?

My car does not have cruise control as far as I know. It's also a 2001 when cruise was probably a new thing.
