Yeah, even Ireland --- no, Ireland! --- is hot today! Something like 25/28 degrees! We feeble rain-worshippers are not ready for such mighty temperatures! Here comes an ice cream soda with my name on it!

I've come across some horrible ones, especially home health aides. I'm like wtf why are you even in this line of work.

Oh as far as taking blood goes, I had to deal with military recruits practicing on us. GOD DAMN! so painful.

Nobody ever says "Oh, the nurse I had today was thoroughly efficent!" though, they only talk about the bad experiences.
I'm often guilty of exaggerating my hatred for things. Such as golf, cucumber and Scotland, but exaggeration has become a habit. A harmless one, but sometimes I don't always succeed in getting that point across. In reality golf is fine, cucumber could be at least worse, and Scotland is a toilet. Ok, but seriously now I don't understand legitimate complaints about the NHS. It may not be perfect and it may well be possible to have a bad experience on it, but try going abroad somewhere, falling ill there, and see if you miss it. |

I accomapanied my mother to UCI one time and they hacked her up pretty bad trying to draw blood. I asked one of the older nurses if it would be possible for her to assist and voila it took her two minutes to seat the needle and the blood was flowing. Another time I went with her to the same Hospital and they almost double dosed my mom with a drug I had read about which would have shut down her kidneys. Be very aware of what people are giving you/your family when going to a hospital, it really is life or death.

This isn't really a bitch, but...
Today after I got out of work my ride was waiting for me on the bench outside the store, and as the person taking me home stood up, I heard a loud thump and "ohhh god". It turns out an elderly man had fallen face first on the sidewalk, and hurt himself pretty badly, I didn't know what was really going on until I saw blood dripping from the man's forehead, and as soon as I realized it was bad, I alerted my coworker and asked them to call the paramedics. We had a few people get the man comfortable, but I wasn't exactly sure what to do, so I stood there feeling so awful because I didn't exactly know how to give proper first aid. There was so much blood, and we soon figured out that when he fell he broke his fingers on the hand he fell on, his nose, and a had massive gash on his forehead. An off duty emergency worker thankfully came out of nowhere to administer proper first aid, and shortly after an ambulance arrived. I really hope this gentleman is ok, he wasn't even from my state, and to know he was closest to me, having my back turned, what would have happened if I saw him falling? I feel horrible I wasn't able to do more for this man, and I really think I should go take first aid courses just so I can be prepared for a situation like this in the future. I really hope he's ok. |
