Circe, I do not want to offend you at all because I do like you but I did find your opinion quite ignorant. My mother is an NHS nurse and goes above and beyond her duties in work including working through most of her breaks and having to either starve or eat on the go. She also can be stuck in work for up to 2hours after her shift is supposed to end because she's too busy looking after people so the fact you assume the NHS nurses are bad at their job is ridiculous. Obviously not all nurses are like my mum but I do know a lot of them and they all mostly go into nursing because they want to care and look after people. I think you're being especially harsh considering taking blood is completely subjective to the patient on how fat/thin/vascular they are and how accessible their veins are, it obviously helps if the nurse is experienced (something which doesn't happen overnight). I also think you should take into consideration the emotional trauma nurses go through on a daily basis. Moral of the story, nurses are angels and you don't know how many times she had to give CPR that morning.

My post was like 99% not serious so please don't think I was actually slagging off the nurse or anything. I was just sore after the needle and decided to exaggerate things for "comedic" effect.

I'm with Kayleigh I think you're being overly harsh on the nurse.
I had a blood test a few months ago and the nurse found a vein with the first attempt and it was over about a minute later. When I went up for a follow up test a month later the same nurse tried the same place as last time, couldn't find one tried another 3 times and was unsuccessful, then she tried twice on my other arm and eventually she found one, taking her almost 20 minutes. It wasn't because she was badly trained, it's just one of those things.

In that case I genuinely apologise, I hear so many people bitching about nurses that I end up going on a spiel because 99% of the people who moan were in for something pathetic like an ultrasound and are all "****in bitch nurse deliberately put that cold gel on my belly" or something equally insignificant and have no real idea what entails a day in the life of a nurse.
Sorry .

No worries, it was my bad for making it sound too serious. Anyway this politeness is unsuitable for this thread so er... Fucking British weather not being able to decide how to work. I was fully ready to just not get a summer this year aside from a couple of days in October and now the sun's actually here?
