So why then is it tracklisting and not songlisting? Huh? Huh? Answer that, smart guy!

Nah, there's nothing wrong with saying tracks at all. "This track coming up is great", "How many tracks on an album?" etc. That all goes back to the divisions on a vinyl LP where you could actually SEE the division on the record and so each of those was a track, on a disc, and so every song is a track. I'm not mad about "cuts", to be honest, but I guess it's the same thing. 'sides, you can't keep saying song all the time, it gets boring and repeitive. It also gets boring and repetitive.

I think you need to be older (like me) to appreciate how much tracks were used to identify songs on albums back when I were knee high to a Fender Strat...

DAMN YOU YOUNG PEOPLE!!!!

I say tracks.

Mainly because I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop where there is no singing, so calling it a song just sounds daft. I sometimes say "tune" as well.

"Hip-Hop song", na. I suppose I could say "joint" , but that would make me sound like a bell-end as well.

I like using "tracks" too. Like Fluffy hinted at, it's actually a more all-encompassing term than "song" which technically only refers to music with singing.

I call songs tracks and albums records. It's not really that big of a deal!

For whatever reason my car decided to stop working today. I'm pretty sure it's a transmission problem, and those are always expensive

The electronics are fine and my engine was revving, but I couldn't get it into drive or reverse. It's been a little jerky going from idling to movement too.
