It's uncomfortable to acknowledge how petty most of our own concerns really are, so in moments of adversity I prefer to think of my life under the gloriously self-agrandising title,
"No Home But The Struggle" (Edward Upward), although perhaps a more accurate description is "The Man Without Qualities" (Robert Musil).

monopoly, chess, scrabble have all been favourites at one time or another

I wonder if you fall into one of those categories, OH - and in terms of bringing it, someone I know used to play Scrabble online. But a Scrabble website? Probably a bunch of nerds squabbling with each other about things no else cares about. Who needs that in their life ?

But what’s dreary is not playing to win. God I hate people who crank up scrabble or even monopoly and go to bed with it unfinished. Monopoly doesn’t even take that long if everyone really plays to win. And by the rules. No $500 for landing on free parking bull****.

lol actually the idea for this question came from a discussion we had about games on discord, and I was talking there about how I usually suck at games because I play for the aesthetics
