I didn't know that, either! Good catch, rostasi.

"To be born the son of a Middlemarch manufacturer, and inevitable heir to nothing in particular." - George Eliot

Quote:
Morrissey had a flair for opening lines. With “I am the son and the heir of a shyness that is criminally vulgar, I am the son and heir of nothing in particular”, he manages to be at once autobiographical and universal, direct and poetic, combining a delectable Oscar Wilde-esque turn of phrase (“criminally vulgar”) with a reference to George Eliot’s great Victorian novel Middlemarch (“To be born the son of a Middlemarch manufacturer, and inevitable heir to nothing in particular”). Rarely has crippling social anxiety sounded so charming.
Middlemarch/Manchester?

Aw ****, the link is blocked by a paywall. In any case I looked up the quote and of course it's related to the whole inheritance drama, amazing. That's probably my favourite part of the book.

Sorry about that, Marie. Yes, it figures Financial Times has a paywall. Funny, when I initially Googled "To be born the son of a Middlemarch manufacturer..." the FT link turned up and I was able to access the article but can't relay the link.

P.S.: Maybe if you Google the foregoing short quote and add "Financial Times", that may work for you?

You could also try using Outline.com to avoid paywalls - doesn't always work, but it did in this case.

the formatting is a little off, but I think all the content is there.

Once again, better late than never
1.Do you believe in anything supernatural?
2.Have you ever been in an awkward third wheel situation?
3.If you had to choose an animal companion (as in a familiar or the daemons in His Dark Materials) what would it be?
4.How do you feel about horses?
5.What is your favourite piece of clothing of all the clothes that you own? (bonus points for pictures)
6.If you had to choose an epitaph for yourself, what would it be?

1.Do you believe in anything supernatural?

No but when I've been reading good creepypastas at night all my reason goes out the window and ghosts and demons become very real to me even if I know I'm just being a dumb pussy.

2.Have you ever been in an awkward third wheel situation?

I'm sure but nothing particularly tickles my memory.

3.If you had to choose an animal companion (as in a familiar or the daemons in His Dark Materials) what would it be?

Animal: hawk
Demon: succubus

4.How do you feel about horses?

I rode a few back in my summer camp days and it's intoxicating even though I didn't get to go any faster than a walk.

5.What is your favourite piece of clothing of all the clothes that you own? (bonus points for pictures)

6.If you had to choose an epitaph for yourself, what would it be?

"You should see the other guy"

Shame on you for apparently not knowing what a daemon is, but I'm not even mad because the image of you riding a horse is hilariously delightful
