1) What song gives you the most joy?
Yakety Sax 2) What song would be on eternal repeat to torture you in hell? Listen to This by Red Krayola would lose its charm in about 30 minutes. 3) Who do you wish would record a new album (or their first)? Keiji Haino and Steve Noble with anyone else that they want to include. 4) What collaboration would you love to hear? The above has already happened, so I'll go with Matana Roberts and Mary Halvorson tag teaming an ensemble of their choice. OH's is a great pick too. 5) Of musicians who have passed away who do you most miss? Miss might not be the right word since he passed so long before I was born, but Coltrane. 6) Assuming talent and money are not an issue, if you were to record your own perfect album what would the style and theme be? What supporting musicians/producers would you choose? I already have a few under my belt tbh (humility's cool but I really do love my music) but I would like Wolves in Sheepskin to collab with any inventive saxophonist who doesn't overplay and a bassist who can play off the wall with me and the other founding WISSK member alternating between guitar and drums. Another would be using thousands of dollars worth of synths to do a super fragmented solo electronic album.

1) What song gives you the most joy?
Currently this. I love the second half of the track. 2) What song would be on eternal repeat to torture you in hell? The Disintegration Loops 3) Who do you wish would record a new album (or their first)? EL-P 4) What collaboration would you love to hear? Danny Brown and Amnesia Scanner. Imagine Danny on something like this. 5) Of musicians who have passed away who do you most miss? 6) Assuming talent and money are not an issue, if you were to record your own perfect album what would the style and theme be? What supporting musicians/producers would you choose? A collab between Danny Brown, A. G. Cook, Charli XCX and Amnesia Scanner. I would assist by occasionally clicking my fingers or something.

Neil Young - Sail Away probably gets me closest to my happy place. 2) What song would be on eternal repeat to torture you in hell? Billy Joel - We didn’t start the fire would torture the **** out of me. 3) Who do you wish would record a new album (or their first)? I’d like to hear a new Autolux. 4) What collaboration would you love to hear? I wonder what Arvo Part and Brian Eno might come up with. 5) Of musicians who have passed away who do you most miss? Bowie. 6) Assuming talent and money are not an issue, if you were to record your own perfect album what would the style and theme be? What supporting musicians/producers would you choose? Ambient thrash with dissonant choir and tortured cello orchestra. |

1) What song gives you the most joy?
How do I even pick just one? This is a pretty solid feel good tune for me: 2) What song would be on eternal repeat to torture you in hell? It's a shame cause I still enjoy their first album... 3) Who do you wish would record a new album (or their first)? Melanie Martinez needs to hurry the fuck up. 4) What collaboration would you love to hear? Esperanza Spalding and Gil Scott Heron 5) Of musicians who have passed away who do you most miss? I don't miss any I still have their music.. 6) Assuming talent and money are not an issue, if you were to record your own perfect album what would the style and theme be? What supporting musicians/producers would you choose? Meh.. i dont like this question, tons of albums that have inspired me in a way i didnt even know was possible. I'll leave the creating to the inspired. Stylistically probably something depressing and slow.

Choose any song from the Sound of Music soundtrack. Yes, really. 2) What song would be on eternal repeat to torture you in hell? I just heard this song the other day I immediately developed a visceral, physical hatred of it. Every aspect of this song makes me furious. 3) Who do you wish would record a new album (or their first)? I honestly hope another new Coltrane record turns up sometime to kick my ass 4) What collaboration would you love to hear? Davis and Hendrix would have ****ed I would love if Thou did something with some experimental jazz musicians 5) Of musicians who have passed away who do you most miss? Lemmy, at least until Iggy Pop dies. I will legitimately cry on that cursed day. 6) Assuming talent and money are not an issue, if you were to record your own perfect album what would the style and theme be? What supporting musicians/producers would you choose? Experimental metal album with the folks from Tomb Mold, Portal, and Thou. I would just **** around with percussion and let them do their things. So. Many. Layers. Of. Sound.

Idk I just really hate that song. it used to play all the time on a radio station when it first came out (around the same time as that ****ing coldplay song, help me lord) and it just raises my blood pressure to hear even a whisper of it. I hate the lyrics, I hate the boring ass harmonies and chord progressions, ugh it's the worst
I'm not a fan of the decemberists in general, although I have met colin and he was very kind. |

Yeah, the radio has ruined a lot of songs that I probably would have liked otherwise. Very happy to not have to endure a single minute of the **** anymore. I do like me some boring ass harmonies, but im not much of a fan of theirs either.. I guess I've only listened to that track a handful of times so I still enjoy it, heh.

1) What song gives you the most joy?
2) What song would be on eternal repeat to torture you in hell? Anything by Taylor Swift. 3) Who do you wish would record a new album (or their first)? DOOL. 4) What collaboration would you love to hear? If DOOL did a split with Lucifer, that would sound awesome. 5) Of musicians who have passed away who do you most miss? S.L. from TDB in the above video. Because of his approach to writing tension and release and how he'd write segments of songs intentionally designed to allow improvisation etc. The guy was a damn amazing musician and artist. 6) Assuming talent and money are not an issue, if you were to record your own perfect album what would the style and theme be? What supporting musicians/producers would you choose? Blackened Psychedelic Drone. I'm heavily influenced by scifi/horror works of King and Lovecraft, but I'm also pretty heavily influenced by the actual historical account of mysticism across human history from different origins, everything ranging from the monuments of known mythology to the small tribes living in far off 3rd World villages or huts away from the rest of conventional society within their country, such as the Sadhu and the Yoruba derivatives/inverses or counterpoints/antithesis. Basically, I want to create a sound that, horrifies even me. That's how I know I've done my job right.
