Which has nothing to do with The Land Before Time besides dinosaurs.
Oh god damn it I just watched that scene again and I was wondering what the high pitched squeals were and I think they were me and I'm not even joking. Absolutely the most depressing scene in any animated movie and in 99% of movies in general. It's not even that long but it destroys you.

I love both but Lion King no longer makes me cry. The Land Before Time will always wreck my ****. Even the credits **** with me because they show all this prehistoric land imagery but the dinosaurs are gone and it's set to a corny Diana Ross song that still works in an oddly melancholic way and it reminds me that not only is one of my favorite childhood movies over, but that the dinosaurs will eventually all die.
Lion King is wonderful but it does also have this obviously big budget animation that you can tell has subtle, but still clear uses of digital animation and it doesn't have the same heart and intimacy as Land Before Time. Also dinosaurs > lions. I mean just ****ing compare.

I will agree that Land Before Time was pretty damn whimsical and when they would go to hit you in the feels, the swung extra hard. The lion king just has big kitties so maybe that's why I'm more impartial to it. If I had to put either of the two on for my nieces I would pick Lion King without a doubt.
