im still pretty undecided on this one, hence why i havent done a year end list yet. my top choices would be something like Ostrca - Last Der Weg einer Freiheit - Finisterre Kitty - Miami Garden Club Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Nashville Sound 2. What was the best film of 2017? three billboards 3. Do you ever watch any anime? yeah, i have a few weeb friends who will recommend me stuff from time to time. a lot of it seems to be pretty good, especially the more serious and creative stuff. not crazy about the shonen stuff. 4. Who is your favorite photographer? cant say i have one honestly. 5. Who is your favorite movie director? cant tell ya just one. charlie kaufman, PTA, coen brothers, spike jonze, lars von trier, dennis villeneuve, are all up there thats just modern ones off the top of my head, there are plenty of others i enjoy just as much. 6. What is the best movie ever made? synecdoche, new york. it will change your life a bit more with each viewing.

1. What was the best album of 2017?
The best album I heard was Godfather by Wiley. 2. What was the best film of 2017? I don't think I saw any films released that year. 3. Do you ever watch any anime? Not that I know of. 4. Who is your favorite photographer? Not sure if you mean well known big hitters in the photography game or just anyone we happen to like. The only one I know by name is a local girl who takes amazing pictures of the local scenery and architecture. Her name is Verity Milligan if you want to check her out. 5. Who is your favorite movie director? Probably a really obvious answer, I'm not a film guy but Spielberg for me. I adore E.T., Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan. 6. What is the best movie ever made? Obvious one again and some guys will say it's overrated but when I saw Shawshank for the first time it blew my head off and I knew once it had finished that it was the best film I ever saw. And it still is. |

1. What was the best album of 2017?
The albums I got for Christmas were so good that my ranking has been all jumbled up all of a sudden. Maybe the Lydia Ainsworth album? I don't even know anymore! 2. What was the best film of 2017? Watched fewer 2017 films than I'd have liked to. I went to the movie theater way less than 10 times that year. I have some catching up to do... 3. Do you ever watch any anime? Less than ever, but I like to look for obscure gems about once a year. There's a lot of really interesting anime, you just have to find it. Which is really difficult, since there's mountains and mountains of crap. 4. Who is your favorite photographer? Currently, either Jan Saudek or Dahmane. Saudek is not always NSFW, so here's one of his: Dahmane is another story, so I'll leave anyone who is curious to google his frankly wonderful b&w photos of women. I usually hate black and white photography. It's such a crutch. "Ooh look, I'm being arty", but Dahmane really knows how to create textures, lighting and contrasts that make the pictures seem richer, the longer you look at them, despite being b&w. As expected, most people don't even have a favorite photographer. I asked the question anyway since I've really been getting into the subject lately. I've been looking for photography collections of all kinds in local antique bookstores over the last month and it feels very exciting to have this whole new artform to explore. New in the sense that I've never gone in depth with it, that is. I basically know nearly nothing about the history of art photography as of yet, and that makes it thrilling to explore. 5. Who is your favorite movie director? Still Ridley Scott because I really need to watch some more obscure movies. 6. What is the best movie ever made? Bladerunner. Possibly. I feel like my answer will be different, given a couple more years of exploring the movie medium. That's what happens when no one else takes action |
