Do you remember what your grandparent's perfume was called?
Ah no, I don't even remember the letters or anything. It might very well have been poured over in one of those fine little glass bottles with a sort of balloon attached to it that you squeeze to get the perfume out. Can't remember what they're called. One of these thingies:

... and all this time I thought this was some kind of drinking-session thread!

1. Would you say that you are a music snob at all?

Straight off the bat, and I'm cutting and pasting someone else's answer. But this is pretty much my position too; I'm a kind of closet snob, and those closed closet doors have the reminder, "Live and Let Live" painted across them.

2. Thoughts on Christmas? Some people love it, some people hate it.

Don't like the religion, the commercialisation or the over-eating, but as Mindful mentioned it's a time of goodwill, and that's what the world needs now... that's the only thing there's just too little of.

Also, it's a very exciting time for small children and I wouldn't grinch that away from anybody.

3. Do you ever change your haircut?

Does three hairstyles in a lifetime count as a "Yes"?

4. Do you like going to the cinema?

I used to love it as a kid, but lost interest in it about the time I started going to pubs instead.

5. Any hobbies that aren't related to music?

Mainly reading, walking, cycling, and less commendably, watching tv.

6. Name a ting you really, really suck at.

Can't dance or play an instrument. Not very good at sitting down for some long-drawn-out social occassion like a dinner party either.

I have terrible balance. Just never persevered at it I guess. Never needed to. Probably won't ever, now.

imagine if when you wanted to listen to a new album release you had a choice between like 8 records and you had to pay what adds up to about $20 usually

you might as well be pissing quarters when you have to run to the john 15 minutes in because you finished your Sahara Desert sized cola during the previews
Soulless ****. If you have an entertainment system on the level of a movie theater then I'm moving in with you. Anything with any kind of action is better in a theater, the exception being horror movies since I don't want to be surrounded by a theater full of people when I'm trying to get creeped out.

Me neither. I get really fidgety the longer it goes on and take every excuse I can to get up from the table and go to the bathroom/go get some water/go outside and catch fresh air/go out in the kitchen and help bringing in or out some dishes or whatever. Hitting the wine hard makes it a bit more bearable, but that's obviously not a great solution. I don't know why it's so hard to just sit still like everybody else does.

I honestly thought you were going to say "Imagine if when you wanted to listen to a new album you had a choice of doing so alone or in the company of hundreds of people". That would have made more sense. On that level, why go somewhere to enjoy a movie with a bunch of strangers? I mean, I have no problem with it - it's something I grew up with and there was no alternative - but when you start thinking about it, isn't there always some **** on his phone or a bunch of wankers laughing and talking and throwing popcorn? Scum bags. Rather watch it in peace at home. You can't run it back if you miss an important piece of dialogue because someone was discussing what he wanted for dinner on his ****ing iphone!

^ Good to hear that someone else suffers this frustration too

Yep, I've employed all those kinds of techniques too, plus telling the host "I'd like to see that cd/book/plant", shamelessly padding along behind as they go look in their bedroom, attic or garden.
In fact, you and me, Shazam, should be the normal ones, not the minority. When we were looking around for nuts and berries in Africa we would keep moving; eat and move on. That's how we're wired and that's why, when I grew up anyway, children would perpetually ask, "May I get down please?" when the meal was over. Sitting around endlessly just isn't natural, imo; it's just a lazy habit that adults slip into.

Hell yeah! I also want to see a plant that grows CDs and books!

1. Would you say that you are a music snob at all?

yeah. i don't even really have the snobbiest tastes or tendencies i just enjoying arguing most of the time.

2. Thoughts on Christmas? Some people love it, some people hate it.

luv it. it's the only part that i actually like about winter. it's cold, snowy, and it gets dark outside way too early. but there's nothing cozier than christmas lights and a tree.

3. Do you ever change your haircut?

once and awhile. about 6 months ago i had very long hair. saw a picture saved on my phone of it a few days back and can't believe how disgusting it looked. now i wear a hat so much that my hair doesn't really matter.

4. Do you like going to the cinema?

it's too expensive but yes. i'll never buy anything there aside from my ticket. i'm a firm believer in supporting smaller film makers by seeing their movies in theatres. i'm a little less bothered by the idea of torrenting high budget hollywood films.

5. Any hobbies that aren't related to music?

sure. sports (futbol mainly), video games, collecting vinyl, films, drinking copious amounts of coffee etc.

6. Name a thing you really, really suck at

just one? ehhh. i dunno. i'm really bad at committing to things. not just like in a person to person sense, but also with everything i do. gave up on my journalism program a year in, gave up on learning to play guitar like 2 weeks in, gave up on pretty much every sport i've played outside of footy which i still play occasionally, frequently can't be bothered to finish books i've started reading. i blame it on my attention span and technology but eh, it's definitely my own fault.

1. Would you say that you are a music snob at all?

Not really. It's a very personal thing, and I respect other peoples journeys into the depths of their own audible perceptions.

2. Thoughts on Christmas? Some people love it, some people hate it.

Meh. It's a nice distraction from the cold and snow I guess. The spirit of giving is always a wonderful thing, but the exploitation and over-saturation of it for capitalistic gain has tarnished it's intent. Hmph. Imagine that.

3. Do you ever change your haircut?

I went from the Eddy Van Halen look to the Sgt Hartman look in 1986 and haven't looked back since. There have been a few adjustments, but for the most part it's been the same. A Number 7 all the way around and taper the sides and back.

4. Do you like going to the cinema?

When I smoked I hated it, but now that I don't have to sit in agony over satisfying an addiction every 15 minutes, it's pretty awesome. Well, awesome when you get the new Lazy Boy seating with the heat and messaging in the newer theaters anyway. I can't go back to the old ways. I've been tainted. Spoiled rotten.

5. Any hobbies that aren't related to music?

I chuck plastic at metal sometimes. Calligraphy and art too.

6. Name a ting you really, really suck at.

Drinking through a straw. Derp.
