1.) What is the most recent lie you told to get out of a social engagement?
I don't tend to lie about things like that but I might bend the truth a little. When some friends wanted to go see the new Wonder Woman movie I said I couldn't afford to go. Strickly speaking true, but only because I've reserved the money for something I'd rather spend them on. Probably to go see another movie 2.) Most time-consuming and/or difficult dish you've ever cooked? These things (they're basically supposed to taste like After Eight mints): Schweizerpastiller - BUGInamnam It's supposed to be easy, but I had a hell of a time trying to make the white sugar mass have a workable consistency and in the end, I put way too little mint flavor in them. Plus I made them too big. The recipee said there would be twice as many as I maneged to make. I feel like I have to try again this christmas since I still have most of a bottle of that mint flavoring left. 3.) Cake or pie? There's this layer cake with chocolate dough, coffee and orange creme that tastes unbelievably good. If it wasn't for that, I'd go with pie, since they can be great both with meat, vegetables or fruit. 4.) Spookiest thing that's ever happened to you, that you might consider a paranormal/spiritual or "glitch in the matrix" type experience if you believed in such things? (I'm assuming the vast majority of y'all are atheists) Around 1999 I saw a light in the sky that was too big to be a star, too static and quiet to be a plane/helicopter and too blue to be anything I could think of, really. It couldn't have been an emergency rocket either, since they trail slowly downwards with the smoke above them illuminated from the light. I don't believe in anything paranormal, so I have to assume that I either saw it wrong, remember it wrong or that there's a perfectly reasonable explanation that I simply haven't thought of. I really haven't ever had a real 'glitch in the matrix' type experience. Although I once met a girl on a date and she kept insisting that she'd had a ghost in her appartment. I didn't know how to respond because there was no way I was going to believe her, but I didn't want to be rude about it either soo... it was pretty awkward. 5.) If you could have any idea turned into a high-budget TV series, what would it be? (Be it your own idea, or something based on a book you like or whatever) Who would you cast in the lead roles? Video game adaptations suck, but a TV series that goes through the stories of various old Westwood, Lucas Arts and Sierra point-and-click adventures would be amazing. Those kinds of games have stories fit for movies or TV. Most games don't. They would need some fleshing out, of course. Most of all, I'd love to see Legend of Kyrandia 2: Hand of Fate done this way, with Amy Adams in a blonde wig playing Zhantia. 6.) What's something (no matter how goofy or seemingly boring) you love to do--ideally with other people-- that none of your friends ever want to do? I love to just talk about music, which most people I know don't want to do. There's a reason I looked for a forum like this in the first place. |

Soc-i-al en-gage-ment? I always used to plead having to work (being on call, which mostly was true) to get out of family gatherings. Now, sadly, I have a ready-made and unassailable excuse that I would rather not have ... Quote:

First, please bold every line guys. Think about your fellow members. They have been nice so far, but if this continues I would expect some very passive aggressive PM's.
1.) What is the most recent lie you told to get out of a social engagement? I can't remember. I usually go out when something has been organised these days. When I was a bit younger - with more frequent social engagements - I would lie fairly regularly. 2.) Most time-consuming and/or difficult dish you've ever cooked? I haven't cooked anything that was difficult. Although a cheesecake recipe we have doesn't ever come out as expected, despite many times at it (but we like it the way it is). 3.) Cake or pie? Pie. I have never liked cake all that much. 4.) Spookiest thing that's ever happened to you, that you might consider a paranormal/spiritual or "glitch in the matrix" type experience if you believed in such things? (I'm assuming the vast majority of y'all are atheists) I often have Deja Vu of some form or another, to the extent where I can predict the next 10-15 seconds. I guess you can make sense of that by understanding how likely it is that either the same thing has happened several times for you, or that life becomes rather predictable after 26 years. As for spooky, nothing major that I can remember. A few knocks on empty buildings with weird noises. 5.) If you could have any idea turned into a high-budget TV series, what would it be? (Be it your own idea, or something based on a book you like or whatever) Who would you cast in the lead roles? I have had an idea about a documentary show about human beings for quite some time. Observing us in our natural habitat, but essentially just a parody. But why not go balls to the wall? David Attenborough style. Legitimate observations. I guess the issue would be an intrusion of privacy. 6.) What's something (no matter how goofy or seemingly boring) you love to do--ideally with other people-- that none of your friends ever want to do? This is super boring, but none of my friends ever seem to want to go out for a meal and then drinks in Manchester or wherever. They just wanna go to pubs/bars in the local area. Sad.

Good list Chiomara
1.) What is the most recent lie you told to get out of a social engagement? Last night a friend invited me out to pub quiz but I wasn't in the mood so I said I was doing my laundry and didn't have any clean pants to wear. It wasn't entirely false as I was doing my laundry, but it was actually my whites. 2.) Most time-consuming and/or difficult dish you've ever cooked? Beef wellington, and it wasn't worth it. 3.) Cake or pie? Little kid me would have said pie, but I bludgeoned him over the head with a marble bust, rolled him up in a blanket, and threw him into the river, and now I see the light and am a firm believer in the pie. 4.) Spookiest thing that's ever happened to you, that you might consider a paranormal/spiritual or "glitch in the matrix" type experience if you believed in such things? (I'm assuming the vast majority of y'all are atheists) Back when I was 13 or maybe 14 I was visiting my dad for the summer. One day I was playing N64 in my room with the door open and I thought I saw this calico colored orb buzz past my open door, just below the top part of the frame, out of the corner of my eye. I didn't really think much of it at the time, but during that week I noticed our cat running around and looking up at the ceiling while running. Then finally one night while a friend slept over, I looked towards the door and I see this same calico colored orb seemingly enter the room and move towards us before disappearing. That definitely unnerved me, but after that week I never noticed anything again and we lived in that apartment for at least another 3-4 years afterwards. 5.) If you could have any idea turned into a high-budget TV series, what would it be? (Be it your own idea, or something based on a book you like or whatever) Who would you cast in the lead roles? Back before it was turned into a god awful movie and The Walking Dead kind of cornered the zombie TV market, I thought the Max Brooks novel World War Z would have made an excellent HBO and or Netflix series. Like a proper adaptation of the novel, not just using the title and the zombies. 6.) What's something (no matter how goofy or seemingly boring) you love to do--ideally with other people-- that none of your friends ever want to do? Watching bad movies and riffing on them. |

1. What is the most recent lie you told to get out of a social engagement?
The GF wanted me to go to a wedding. I said weddings aren't my thing and I wasn't going. Fuck lying, just tell the dam truth. 2. Most time-consuming and/or difficult dish you've ever cooked? I usually do simple recipes, but there was a time when my daughter and me would cook together, and we made a couple of dishes from Emerils book of tasty things. They're not too far of a stretch for a grown up, but for an 8 year old this was some next level stuff for my daughter. It's a toss up between these two: Emerils Beef Stew Emerils Meatloaf 3. Cake or pie? Not much for sweets, but love Blueberry and Apple pie. 4. Spookiest thing that's ever happened to you, that you might consider a paranormal/spiritual or "glitch in the matrix" type experience if you believed in such things? (I'm assuming the vast majority of y'all are atheists) lol It's pretty funny how the human mind wants to believe in 'other worldly' things. Can't say I subscribe to that train of thought. 5. If you could have any idea turned into a high-budget TV series, what would it be? (Be it your own idea, or something based on a book you like or whatever) Who would you cast in the lead roles? A series about people striving to be smarter, and more compassionate about people and the world around them would be super terrific. 6. What's something (no matter how goofy or seemingly boring) you love to do--ideally with other people-- that none of your friends ever want to do? Disc Golf. My friends don't like to play with me anymore.

1. What is the most recent lie you told to get out of a social engagement?
Everybody knows me. If I don't feel like going. I will just say so openly. The last time I didn't want to go to a meeting though I think I said I had diarrhea. 2. Most time-consuming and/or difficult dish you've ever cooked? It was just time consuming but when I made my first Ramen Burger. Ramen noodles as the buns and I also put a sunnyside egg on top of the burger itself. 3. Cake or pie? Diabetic but will take pie over cake anyday. Sweet Potato Pie and Apple Pie but **** pumpkin pie. 4. Spookiest thing that's ever happened to you, that you might consider a paranormal/spiritual or "glitch in the matrix" type experience if you believed in such things? (I'm assuming the vast majority of y'all are atheists) One night I wanted to record my gf talking in her sleep. So I did and then when I played it back later on. I ended up replaying it and it sounds like she is having a conversation with a guy. I couldn't hear the guys voice when I was recording it but maybe it is kind pf creepy listening to it afterwards. His voice was only able to be picked up by my phone recording it. 5. If you could have any idea turned into a high-budget TV series, what would it be? (Be it your own idea, or something based on a book you like or whatever) Who would you cast in the lead roles? It would probably be an adapted version of the book I have been writing on and off for years. It is about a wiccan anti hero that ends up getting powers to interact with nature and everything around him on a molecular level. He finds out the hard way that everytime he uses his powers for selfish reasons, newborn babies die. I feel like Rami Malek had the talent for that role. Something conflicting about his face structure that fits with my main character. 6. What's something (no matter how goofy or seemingly boring) you love to do--ideally with other people-- that none of your friends ever want to do? Play Munchkins! Everytime I bring it up everyone groans.
