have you been to Wellington? i've heard it's beautiful there.
Ha, true It is indeed a small place. Well the three 'main' cities of New Zealand are Auckland and Wellington in the North Island and Christchurch in the South Island. In Wellington I had the same kind of attitude that I did with Auckland... but I absolutely loved Christchurch. So full of culture and the people were just awesome. Obviously most of the population live in Auckland and Wellington as there is more opportunity but after traveling the country in its entirety I just fell in the love with the South Island.

Also... it sounds like I'm downplaying Auckland and Wellington but they aren't bad cities at all haha. They just weren't what I was used to and made me miss my home city of Melbourne, whereas the cities in the South Island were incredible and made me never want to leave!

1. What is something stupid that you consistently spend money on?
Clothes/shoes I don't "need"

2. What are 3 things you cant live without? (tangible objects please)
MP3 player (or any other object that plays music of my choosing, such as my computer, CD player, etc), food, water

3. If you could live anywhere outside of the country where you currently reside where would that be?
I always dreamed of living in Switzerland. That or anywhere else in Western Europe, so I could be close to family I have in Belgium.

4. What is your favorite smell?
Freshly cut grass.

5. What do you think about just before falling asleep?
If I'm stressed with work, that. If I'm stressed about a purchase decision, that. Sometimes I think about what to say on message boards.

6. What's your favorite "adult beverage" for the holiday season?
Red wine (something other than Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon, please). This is kind of year-round, actually, not just for the holidays.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

1. What is something stupid that you consistently spend money on?
Cigarettes. Blech.

2. What are 3 things you cant live without? (tangible objects please)
Coffee, my mom, music/books

3. If you could live anywhere outside of the country where you currently reside where would that be?
I've always wanted to live in the UK. But I'd "settle" for Iceland or Canada.

4. What is your favorite smell?
Coffee, libraries, chalk, fresh laundry.

5. What do you think about just before falling asleep?
I go through what happened that day and think about what might happen tomorrow. Boring stuff, really. I keep a notebook and pen next to my bed though, because sometimes I have random ass thoughts for songs/stories/movies and they're always an entertaining read in the morning.

6. What's your favorite "adult beverage" for the holiday season?
I love me some hot mulled wine.

heh. they're both ranked really highly for quality of life, so i'm guessing someone likes them enough.

i've actually been looking into getting a job in Auckland this summer (well i suppose winter now that i think on it :p), but i doubt i'd be able to even make enough to cover the plane fare back home. i'll probably wind up somewhere out west for a while, but i'd love to see NZ before time takes its toll on my life.

i just wish it wasn't so damn expensive to visit.

Ah yeah that sucks. Fortunately for me, a plane trip to New Zealand is closer than a plane trip to the other side of Australia!

But if you do get the chance to ever visit/ live there, you should go for it. It's a beautiful country and you won't regret it!

1. What is something stupid that you consistently spend money on?
Albums on iTunes. I just find buying albums on iTunes to be a more reliable option than online mp3s.

2. What are 3 things you cant live without? (tangible objects please)
Music, my family, my laptop.

3. If you could live anywhere outside of the country where you currently reside where would that be?
Australia. I've been there a few times, and I loved it.

4. What is your favorite smell?
Bread baking, old books, grass after it rains.

5. What do you think about just before falling asleep?
"Gee, I'm tired."

6. What's your favorite "adult beverage" for the holiday season?
I'm only 15. No adult beverages for me.

1. What is something stupid that you consistently spend money on?
Incense and herbal teas. They're not stupid, but they're my impulse buys and I am a bit obsessed with both.

2. What are 3 things you cant live without? (tangible objects please)
My Macbook, tobacco, and coffee

3. If you could live anywhere outside of the country where you currently reside where would that be?
Costa Rica. I spent about ten weeks camping in the Costa Rican rain forest just outside of Monteverde. It was the most amazing experience I've ever had. I've always wanted to go back and stay permanently.

4. What is your favorite smell?
Good weed, Nag Champa, real Indian sandalwood

5. What do you think about just before falling asleep?
My daughter, always my daughter. I think about Her constantly.

6. What's your favorite "adult beverage" for the holiday season?
All the seasonal brown ales and stouts that come out around this time of year. At Christmas I get a craving for whiskey and egg nog.
