1) Did Obama deserve the Nobel Peace prize?
It seems odd to me that he has recieved it considering the situation in Afghanistan etc but I don't know the criteria involved and what goes on in the background so in essence I don't really care. 2) Do you think that your hobbies or past times have become obsessions? They have in the past and some might say they do now. 3) Would you be offended or freaked out if a total stranger crossed the road to tell you that you are attractive? Depends who's saying it. Generally no, of course not. 4) Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings? LOTR. It's an analogy for England V Germany don't ya know? 5) What food item do you absolutely despise? Eggs in any shape or form apart from in cakes. 6) If you could dine with anyone in the world who would it be and why? Someone who DOESN'T have eggs as part of the meal! I have an ideal candidate

1) Did Obama deserve the Nobel Peace prize?
I think not! I'm for Obama generally, but I think America needs to either cool our jets about him (he is only human after all) or get off our asses and actually become involved. As far as the Nobel Peace prize in concerned, I'd say that was awarded a bit hastily, considering the fact that he hasn't done anything yet! Or rather, he has, but he certianly hasn't dedicated his life to upholding the peace of well...anything, much less the world. Give it to someone who has actually slaved away their lives for the cause of peace. Obama could get there...maybe...he just hasn't yet. 2) Do you think that your hobbies or past times have become obsessions? If I had a true obsession, I would probably be in much better shape right now. Apathy does not work well for me. 3) Would you be offended or freaked out if a total stranger crossed the road to tell you that you are attractive? No, if however said stranger happened to be scary in one way or another, i would proceed to get myself to a place where i would be protected if they happened to make some kind of move on me. 4) Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings? LORD OF THE RINGS!!! I absolutely loved loved LOVED those books. Haven't actually seen the movies...i refuse to watch the poor screen versions of my favorite books when both mine and the authors imaginations combine to a capacity far exceeding any possible film 5) What food item do you absolutely despise? haven't found it yet. I could say lamb or veal based on principle...but i've never actually eaten either one... Oh! i can accurately say i wouldn't enjoy human steak 6) If you could dine with anyone in the world who would it be and why? oh for goodness sake... the Dalai Lama maybe? Jesus Christ? Buddah? Muhammed even (i think i misspelled that ). Any spiritual leader really, though Jesus and the Dalai Lama are diffenitely first on the list.

His son was on a documentary and stated that his father used WW1 as a basis for the book although it wasn't DIRECTLY based upon that. I should have also mentioned that it was also a lament for the pre industrial revolution days of England and his longing for a more genteel, serene period of history.
Why get sick of it? Virtually every artist derives influence from something and it's no coincidence that he began to write while he was serving in WW1. Whether consciously or sub-consciously it must have affected his writing and on that basis, parallels have and always be drawn on this premise whether true or not.

And, yes, I said that every artist derives influence from something, whether they are aware of it or not. And that is why I get sick of it. Because every work of art has influence from history or past fictions, whether it is subconscious or not. It can be easily seen that LOTR has influences from all over the place - biblical, historical, fictional. But I like taking the fiction for what it is in relation to Tolkien's other works, and for the world that it is that he created, rather than obsessing over what it is mimicking. I don't know, it is interesting analysing the different influences that novels/artworks have but after a while it just personally gets tiring for me when everybody claims to know what Tolkien's artistic intentions were. It's fine to enjoy knowing where the idea came from but with LOTR fans especially it tends to get a little bit obsessive at times and it just irks me. |

People like to find out what makes others tick sometimes. It's human nature... anyhow the cave troll looks horribly dated already in terms of effects

Like I said, It's fine to enjoy knowing where the idea came from - I too like investigating the origins of such works. But with LOTR fans especially it tends to get a little bit obsessive at times and it just irks me...

One thing I'm certainly not is obsessive when it comes to LOTR It's just a damn good yarn really and if you asked me for place names etc I could barely muster any!
