Good to hear.
I heard about one of our footballers (Alphonso Davies) getting mycarditis. He's a 20 something elite athlete, and that took him down for a while. It sounds like a fairly serious condition. |

So I'd like to take this opportunity to announce my retirement from setting the Saturday Six-Pack. I know some of you have probably relied on me to be there with the questions, and again my rough calculations tell me I've set over 400 - some quiz books don't have that many! But now it's time for me to pass the torch, as it were. Someone else can take it over, or you can take turns, or let it die, whatever. I have enjoyed it but I have to say I'm done now. I've just got too much else going on to keep working on this every week. I think, I hope, I've provided good service over the time I've been doing this, and that you'll all understand. If not, feel free to **** off.
As my parting gift, have a double on me. Thank you so much Trollheart for your hard work to help us get to know things about each other. I reckon we take turns, there should be enough of us. For those interested, my advice is to create your 6 pack soon so you're ready whenever it's time and no one has beaten you to it. 1. What's one thing you hate about summer? The humidity here in Auckland absolutely sucks because I already feel hot during normal temperatures, even winter! It's called POTS if anyone is interested. 2. What was the last thing you physically mailed?A package for my mom's birthday. I only courier to be honest, if that counts? 3. On balance, do you prefer traditional petrol/diesel cars, hybrid or electric? I'm not a car person but I would go for an electric if possible. 4. How would you characterise the health system in your country/state? Free to all residents but utterly overwhelmed as we go through another wave of covid (which I so far have managed to escape). A lot of really important surgeries (like for cancer and endometriosis) are being postponed and people are passing away before they receive treatment. We have a shortage of nurses too. 5. Somewhat similar to a question asked a few weeks ago, but with a twist: If YOU were ruling a country, or in charge of one, would you be a benevolent or an oppressive leader? Absolutely I would be benevolent. 6. What was your first ever pet? A cat called Leo, he died when I was very young. My most memorable and amazing pets were two brothers called Jaffa and Pipin. 7. Spearmint, peppermint or no mint? Spearmint, I never used to like it but now I do. 8. Name one food item which is no longer available that you would love to see back again? Cadbury's crunchie flavoured 2L icecream *drool* 9. If you're old enough to remember, what precautions, if any, did you take for Y2K? My dad set up antivirus protection but not much else as he wasn't convinced the rumours were true. 10. How do you store your music, generally and if you like, historically too? Via CD ripped onto my computer and I download YouTube music as well. 11. Someone gives you a gun. You will not be let go alive unless you shoot one person. There will be absolutely no legal or criminal comeback. Once you shoot your target you will be free, legally and in reality. Who do you choose (can be anyone, as long as they're still alive), or do you refuse and take the consequences? Donald Trump 12. If you can remember, what was your first post on Music Banter? https://www.musicbanter.com/introduc...-suspense.html I'm quite embarrassed but I was 18. 1. What's one thing that has become popular in music (say last 20 years) that instantly turns you off? Any genre... Overuse of EDM and most Tik Tok dancer turned singers. 2. You get to choose a direct sequel to any game, book, movie, or album that never received one - it will be made by its original creator in their prime and will be bestowed on the world. What do you choose? Mortal Engines, such a good story that neeeeds a sequel. 3. You are suddenly transported into the past - you open your eyes to see Jesus being frogmarched to his crucifixion - your are among the crowd - what do you do? Prepare his tomb for when he wakes up again lol. 4. You are charged with removing one food item from existence - you have to choose only one - but the catch is that after you make your choice, everyone in the world will be given your name, picture, and address and made aware that you were the one responsible - what food item do you choose? Canned cheese 5. Have you ever come close to death? If so, what's the closest you've come? Experiences of others coming close to death near you also count. Yes, was revived 3 times from going unconscious this year, plus during the 2011 Feb 22nd Christchurch earthquakes, I would have died if I had gone to dairy to get milk as planned. It just so happened that my friend contacted me via Skype as my computer was still open and he saved my life. I hadn't heard from him in ages either. 6. What was your favorite cereal as a kid? If you never ate cereal, what was your favorite breakfast as kid? Weetbix berry bites yuummmm!

Thank you for your service.
1. What's one thing you hate about summer? Humidity, gnats and fruit flies 2. What was the last thing you physically mailed? I mailed in my kids' passport renewal forms in May. I have yet to receive a response. 3. On balance, do you prefer traditional petrol/diesel cars, hybrid or electric? Petrol for me. It's a catch-22. Pollute by using oil, or send the car to the junkyard, while the resource intensive mining builds the batteries. Besides, my car is paid off. Any new car, electric or otherwise is crazy expensive now. That's if you can find one. 4. How would you characterise the health system in your country/state? Like most places, our hospitals are so overwhelmed, that they're closing on some nights and weekends. Nurses are quitting in droves. Wait lists are long for MRI and surgeries. Finding a doctor to refill a prescription takes a while, even if it's just a Teams chat. At least we don't see a bill, other than parking. 5. Somewhat similar to a question asked a few weeks ago, but with a twist: If YOU were ruling a country, or in charge of one, would you be a benevolent or an oppressive leader? I'll be benevolent. Oppression is bad for the health. 6. What was your first ever pet? I grew up with a terrier named Captain. 7. Spearmint, peppermint or no mint? Peppermint 8. Name one food item which is no longer available that you would love to see back again? Crunchie was in ice cream???? Why was I not informed of this? I'm not sure it's dead yet, but I haven't seen white (i.e. clear) cream soda in years. The pink stuff is everywhere, but not the white stuff. 9. If you're old enough to remember, what precautions, if any, did you take for Y2K? I took no precautions. At work, I was hot swapping BIOS chips. It was fun. 10. How do you store your music, generally and if you like, historically too? I have 20 Case Logic binders to store my CDs. I rip most of them. While working, I keep a binder in the office so that I can play a disc on my little boombox. It's a toss up. It's either the two headed monster behind almost every crappy pop song in the past decade or the person who decided a reality show was a good idea. 12. If you can remember, what was your first post on Music Banter? I think I posted in the introduction thread. Last edited by music_collector; 08-07-2022 at 10:30 AM. |

Whiney, nasally vocals. 2. You get to choose a direct sequel to any game, book, movie, or album that never received one - it will be made by its original creator in their prime and will be bestowed on the world. What do you choose? Pragmatic Philosophy: An Anthology, the Sequel! 3. You are suddenly transported into the past - you open your eyes to see Jesus being frogmarched to his crucifixion - your are among the crowd - what do you do? I'd probably google 'frogmarched'. 4. You are charged with removing one food item from existence - you have to choose only one - but the catch is that after you make your choice, everyone in the world will be given your name, picture, and address and made aware that you were the one responsible - what food item do you choose? Sugar. You're all ****ing welcome. 5. Have you ever come close to death? If so, what's the closest you've come? Experiences of others coming close to death near you also count. Quite a few times. I was younger and stupider for a lot longer than most people. I did witness a tragic death when I was in the service though. A Chief Warrant Officer with only a few weeks left until retirement was running a forklift with us enlisted workers just to show he could hang, and while heading back up range, he didn't pay attention to where he was going and ran the forklift into a ditch. He tried jumping out but the forklift crushed him, killing him instantly. 6. What was your favorite cereal as a kid? If you never ate cereal, what was your favorite breakfast as kid? Boo Berry

NO!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXegsaDctGE My friend loves Boo Berry. We can only get it in the US. He says the recipe has changed. It's not nearly as good as it used to be (used to be = 30 years ago). |

Lol, most likely. One weekend, we decided to shop in the States. We hit a grocery store. He bought a dozen boxes of cereal in all - Frankenberry, Count chocula, Boo berry, Capn' crunch (think it was a berry flavour). We hit the clothing outlets too. We get to Canadian customs, and the agent wants to see the trunk of the car. I open it, and he takes a look. He gave me my duty ticket, and said "see you captain". Prior to opening the trunk, he didn't believe us that we could buy that much cereal.
