I haven't been there myself, but I was for some time immersed in Apsley Cherry-Garrard's accurately titled books about his own journey there: This was the 1911- 1912 expedition in which Captain Scott died just a mile or so from his life-saving stores. Before that, in an extraordinary expedition side trip, Apsley C-G and two others went to visit an Emperor Penguin colony during egg-laying time (= the S Hemisphere winter) :- Quote:

I'd just like to point out that you ladies now have enough for a coven, power-female trio: Celladorina, Ribbons and Marie Monday.
Beware the hex! I said HEX! Honestly, you people....

The two coldest places I've visited probably pale in comparison. I once got frostbite in -50 Celsius as a kid. It actually was a fun day outside with family, minus that part. My cousins and I played football using chunks of ice on the ground. At the second place, I had never felt wind chill like that. I was out on an airport tarmac, trying to help the pilot wrap up his plane so it wouldn't freeze. There was no hangar there, so he "parked" in a designated area off the runway. With all due respect to my fellow Packers fans, the frozen tundra does not exist in Green Bay's Lambeau field. Where I was (north of 60), is where the tundra lies. |

I can remember either when you were going or when you came back? That was a long time ago! It must’ve been an incredible experience.

Oh ****! How could I have forgotten my beautiful, clever and funny niece???
Doesn't sound the same though does it? "When shall we four meet again?" But then, Fetcher being Scottish gives her the edge there. Either way, any or all of you can hex me any time. No, I think I said hex, but hey, I'm easy. Very easy. Don't even need to RTFM with me.

Um also WWWP and Boo and Chio etc? Maybe for the best (despite my love for ribbons and Cella) because this coven has too much male gaze upon it. We deserve better gals and pals
