I am absolutely convinced there is no afterlife. People often say that you can't be sure that god/gods or an afterlife does or doesn't exist, because these concepts are infallible, but this just seems to me idiotic. I mean, the concept of fairies is just as infallible, as is the statement "we are all already dead and this is the afterlife" and justas the statement "there is an elephant right outside this window, but as soon as you look for it, it hides", and yet we don't take these statements as true or potentially true. The same goes for an afterlife. It's a nice story, but in reality it's just that - a story.

4. What new movie are you most looking forward to?

The next episode of the Kenobi series, I guess. But I'm not really looking forward to any new movies or series.

5. When was the last time you changed your TV, and from what to what?

I haven't had a TV ever since I was a toddler.

No, I don't agree. The analogy is flawed. The point is that we don't know, because we can't know, till we're dead. Unless someone comes back with absolute proof that there is an afterlife, we can't be certain there is one, and obviously if there definitively is not one, then nobody's coming back to tell us about it.

A better comparison would be this: although science can tell us much about black holes, is there a possibility that there are other universes accessible through them, if one could make it through? Possibly, possibly not. But there is no way to be 100% certain, unless we can go through. So we have to accept that it's at least not IMpossible.

Same with an afterlife. Nobody living knows for 100% certain there is not one, or that there is. You may firmly BELIEVE or refuse to, but that does not mean you are correct. It's entirely arrogant, I think, to say that you KNOW there is no afterlife, just the same as it would be arrogant, and wrong, to say you KNOW what's going to happen in ten years time to every person on this planet. There are some things we don't know, and when we don't know, we have to accept the possibility of their existence.

I mean, it's probably ****e, of course, but I don't know that for sure, and I don't believe anyone else can either. I'm just looking to find out how many of us, if any, whether we believe in it or not, secretly would like there to be something after we die?

You can't fully know the unexistence of an afterlife because you can't fully prove a negative without considering the entirety of the universe across all time, which is physically impossible for us to do. You can't fully know the existence of the afterlife because there isn't any evidence for its existence. It doesn't make sense to hold them up as equally valid/invalid stances on that basis.

I also think that considering the idea of an afterlife and determining that there isn't one due to lack of evidence requires accepting the possibility of an afterlife on a level. It's not something that exclusively arises from the same type of dogmatism that leads someone to believe in an afterlife without evidence. Were evidence to arise, the situation would shift and those denying the existence of the afterlife would be the dogmatists.

1. What motto do you live, or try to live your life by? Nothing wrong with neutral - I made this up myself to highlight that when not much is going on in life, it means there is balance. Having big positive or negative events can mentally drain us.

3. Are you completely convinced there is no afterlife, or do you hope there may be? In my opinion there is absolutely an afterlife, we just transition to another realm. I don't believe in hell, for example.

5. When was the last time you changed your TV, and from what to what? Oh man I feel personally attacked/called out here. My TV is ten years old, I got it second hand from some random electronic store in the whop whops. I am definitely going to replace it eventually.

Hey, there's absolutely nothing wrong with holding on to a TV that has served you well. Before I got the LG 32 inch I had a big CRT Grundig that looked like it could crush a man by being dropped on him (I remember struggling - and I mean STRUGGLING! I'm 9 st (126 lbs) - damn thing was nearly heavier than me!) up the stairs to my bedroom with it, hoping desperately to the telly gods that it wouldn't fall on me! That set lasted me for a good ten years, then one day it just waved bye-bye, and I was forced into the world of flatscreens. But you don't by any means have to be the sort who changes your set every other year. I only ever changed when it was necessary. You get used to your TV and sometimes it's almost like you're betraying it by getting a new one...

First of all, what makes you think Clinton was a good President? Anyway, even the great Presidents have had their flaws (Lincoln and his rule against Habeas Corpus for example). It depends on the era really (If Lincoln had lost the Civil War, had people fixated more on the JFK- Marylin Monroe scandal at the time, etc). The historian in me would have to spend more time on analyzing your question to be honest.

4. If you were/are in the market for a new pet, how would you go about it? Shelter? Ad in the paper? Online? Pedigree purchase? Friends?

Definitely a shelter. I'd want to save an animal from the Kevorkian cocktail.

Boy, you're really asking for it with this question. Well, I don't have kids so I probably wouldn't think much of it. I can see people wanting to burn the guy at the stake though.

It depends on just how cheap. Yes, I'd try to return it, but if they make it to difficult for that, I simply make a note never to buy from that store again.
