So stop pussing out and tell me whether the mind is physical or metaphysical.

Get some more, cos here's another one.

Okay well if you had actually read what I wrote instead of being so set on mocking me as you always do, you'd have seen that the first few paragraphs had nothing to do with you (sorry but not everything does and I don't respond only to you) but were in fact a reply to Fetcher's comments. The only "manifesto", if you like, was in the last three or four. And anyway, despite what you'd like to think, or how you want to read things into my writing that aren't there, I don't advocate temperance by any means. If people want to drink, fair play to them. If people want to get drunk, their choice. If people want to get drunk and get into fights, up to them. Nothing to do with me, though I still assert the world would generally be a better place if people did not feel the need to drink to excess (important difference there with the last two words).

What I asked for, but realise I will never get, is for people like me, and Rostasi, who don't drink, who have chosen not to drink, to be treated like normal people and not some sort of freaks of society who have to be either a) mocked or b) studied to find out why we don't drink, ie what's wrong with us?

I can't speak for anyone else, but personally, I have no interest in drinking copious amounts of something I don't like the taste of, puking up, staggering home, getting into fights with strangers, waking the next morning with no clear memory of the night before. Doesn't hold any attraction for me. Nor does sitting in a pub all evening when I could be writing more journals to bore you all with, or reading, or hell - here's an idea! Listening to music. There are many better ways to spend one's time, and that's my choice. You want to spend your days/nights (delete as appropriate, or possibly leave both in) in a drunken haze, go right ahead. I won't say anything to you. But if I want to spend my days and nights clear-headed and unaffected by alcohol, that's my choice, should be respected as much as yours and should not have to be explained, excused or justified, just as nobody does, or has the right to, ask you why you feel you need to drink.

Bro you can do all that while drunk. Listening to music drunk is great. Writing while drunk is great. Some of my favorite creative writing was when I was blotto. I might have had to clean it up the morning after but I wouldn't have gone to such places sober.

You know, if someone can survive and make a good life for themselves while drinking, maybe you should be looking at yourself.

Props for getting Batlord to approach compatabilism though.

Yeah, I'm OK with that because it's damn near an impossibility to know everything about everything.

It has a differing value and, so yes, what's the final point of the argument here?
That you can never know things unless you have both the knowledge of its workings and
the actual experience of it? Yeah, well hot damn! I'm glad I don't know what a heart attack is!
My point is you can speculate about how it would affect your pov but nothing more. We aren't talking about some niche experience like a heart attack... It's more akin to someone who joins the priesthood as a virgin speculating on the pros and cons of sex.

i didn't read any of your previous post and i don't care who it was aimed at. I didn't assume it had anything to do with me. I just saw the length and made a generic joke about it bud. Sorry.

As for needing to justify yourself, you don't. But as i recall you guys offered the "why would you try something again if you don't like the taste" line of reasoning which i thought was pretty weak and pointed that out. If you put it out there voluntarily it's fair game.

Omg you bunch of children. It's true that people who don't drink get judged for it in an unfair way, so back off on that side, but if you're gonna be self-righteous about not drinking you're not helping yourself or anyone else for that matter. That's just as childish. Rise above yourselves, people

Yes, operative word is "can". I don't have to. I have a choice, and if I make the choice not to drink, that should not be mocked.

I don't understand this. I'm not saying anyone who drinks can't have a good life, just as I'm saying anyone who doesn't drink can't have a good life. I'm saying it's possible to do both. So why should I be looking at myself??

I have no idea what this means.

Where am I being self-righteous about not drinking, Marie? All I'm asking for is equal treatment and consideration. I don't feel that's being self-righteous. If anything, those who think everyone should be drinking and mock those who don't are the ones being self-righteous.
