It could be fun, kind of a lark.

1. Who is/are your favourite director(s) (max 3)?

Kubrick because duh he's the master, Paul Thomas Anderson because everything he's done from There Will Be Blood onward has been impeccable (also just found out he has a new film coming out this fall), and David Lynch for reaching some unexpected higher emotional planes on Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire especially.

2. What's the worst sequel you've ever seen?

Not exactly a fall from grace, but Back to the Future II. I tend to avoid the obviously terrible sequels.

3. Who in the movie business do you think does not get the credit they deserve?

All of the people that come to mind are pretty well-known. Charlie Kaufman is among the best living writers, can't give that enough recognition.

4. What genre do you believe Hollywood has overdone at this point?

There's room to do anything well but it's hard for me to give a **** about superheroes. Invincible was pretty dope though.

5. What book would you like to see made into a movie?

Pedro Paramo and Confederacy of Dunces. Paramo would be really hard to pull off with its crazy narrative structure, Tom Ford's A Single Man makes me think he could do it well. Terry Gilliam doing Confederacy of Dunces would be amazing.

6. Name three of your favourite, and three of your least favourite movies?

Favourite: The Shining, Possession (1981), and A Single Man.
Least Favourite: Some of his early stuff is watchable, but I ****ing hate Tim Burton. His aim is to be quirky/bizarre but he winds up with the most trite focus-grouped movies I've ever seen. It's like when someone has to tell you how tough they are and it just outs their insecurity. The soundtracks are overbearing and irritating, he's carrying the torch of the transatlantic accent, and he's about as weird as an accountant who occasionally listens to Nine Inch Nails. **** outta here, Tim.

1. Who is/are your favourite director(s) (max 3)?

Spielberg, Tarantino, and Bay.

2. What's the worst sequel you've ever seen?

I liked all of the ones I watched, so the one I liked the least was probably Shrek 2. I thought the Fiona/Shrek thing was actually the least interesting part of the first film. Still liked it, though.

3. Who in the movie business do you think does not get the credit they deserve?

Cillian Murphy. He was great in both The Dark Knight and Inception.

4. What genre do you believe Hollywood has overdone at this point?

Romance. We get it everybody loves a good love story, sure whatever.

5. What book would you like to see made into a movie?

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and His Boy. Why in god's name have they not finished the series yet in movies?

6. Name three of your favourite, and three of your least favourite movies?

Three of my favorite movies: The Mummy, Saw 2, and Dead Poets Society. My least favorite being Shrek 2, Captain Marvel, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. They were enjoyable films, but I would have changed at least one or two things about them.

Can’t really fill this out adequately, as I’m no film buff – but thought I’d give it a try.

1. Who is/are your favourite director(s) (max 3)?

David Lynch, John Huston, Wim Wenders.

2. What's the worst sequel you've ever seen?

Godfather III (thought it was silly and no patch on the first two)

3. Who in the movie business do you think does not get the credit they deserve?

Lack sufficient knowledge to answer!

4. What genre do you believe Hollywood has overdone at this point?

Those blasted superheroes (fortunately my son is not a fan so I haven't been exposed to them all that much).

5. What book would you like to see made into a movie?

Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast

6. Name three of your favourite, and three of your least favourite movies?

Favorites: The Night Of The Iguana, Wings Of Desire, The Misfits
(Don’t really have least-favorites.)

Yes, that's about how it is for me too ribbons.

1. Who is/are your favourite director(s) (max 3)?

Sergio Leone for his trilogy of Westerns culminating with "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly."
Hitchcock was great in his day for presenting a story full of suspense.
Alan Parker has made more of my favourite movies than anyone else ( Midnight Express, Angel Heart, Mississippi Burning)
The Cohen Brothers somehow make each of their movies impactful.

oops! more than the permitted 3

3. Who in the movie business do you think does not get the credit they deserve?

On a movie poster, the actors get the big billing, then maybe the director. The guy who doesn't get the credit he/she deserves is the writer. After all, that's the person whose ideas/dialogue make or break the movie imo.

4. What genre do you believe Hollywood has overdone at this point?

I'm glad to see "superhero" movies have been mentioned here a few times. Not my favourite either.
Spoiler for Rant about the movie industry:
As one Brit actor once famously said, "It's all about bums on seats." Understandably, the movie industry as a whole has always worked on that principal; it's my guess that they did a bit of market research and noticed: "Our audience ranges from children to adults. If we make a kids film we lose half our audience, but if we make an adult film we lose half to."
It's my opinion that to overcome this problem, they perpetrated a scam: they made movies for children, but with enough special effects and big name actors that adults could watch them "for fun" too. It started with Star Wars, and runs through ET to countless superhero and fantasy films.

5. What book would you like to see made into a movie?

If I like a book, I really prefer it to stay as a book. If I don't like a book, sure make it into a movie - I don't care.

6. Name three of your favourite movies?

Swapping my "least" for favourites, I'm squeezing in six:-

Angel Heart (Alan Parker)
Brief Encounter (David Lean)
Casablanca ( Michael Curtis)
Fargo (Cohen Bros)
Everything Is Illuminated (Liev Schreiber)
A Room With a View ( Ivory, Merchant)

Thanks! I'm a total sucker for any film that has "Ivory-Merchant" on it.
