1. Which do you prefer, and why?

Both have their charms but country is more calming.

2. If you were able to switch (country to city/city to country) would you?

Probably but I ain't mowing a country yard.

3. What do you like best about where you are (city or countryside)?

Sometimes I get to see interesting wildlife dead on the side of the road. There was a small hawk for a few days recently.

4. And what do you hate about it?

It would be frowned upon to put a bomb on one of the aircraft carriers.

5. If you were/are living in the country, what animal would you adopt to be your friend/pet?

Falcon.

6. What do you think is your most important responsibility in the city or country (wherever you live)?

Don't talk to cops.

1. Which do you prefer, and why?

The city. I've only ever lived in the centre of a city or within a couple miles of it. I love city vibes of all kinds and I love having access to as many restaurants, bars, musuems etc. I used to live in Leeds but I moved to Edinburgh around 3 years ago now and it was probably the best decision I ever made. It's so beautiful having nature right next to the city or in the city.

2. If you were able to switch (country to city/city to country) would you?

Never in a million years would I move into the middle of nowhere. Okay fine, maybe when I retire or a lot older, I'd probably consider it.

3. What do you like best about where you are (city or countryside)?

I love the people and the nature the most. Scottish people are so friendly, even though there accents might not suggest it. And they're super humorous

4. And what do you hate about it?

Waiting for a red traffic light to go green in Edinburgh is bull****. And the weather sucks.

5. If you were/are living in the country, what animal would you adopt to be your friend/pet?

An alpaca.

Hey Monkey! Welcome back. Haven't seen you in ages!

What is so different about waiting for traffic lights to go green in Edinburgh? Surely they're the same all over?

Alpacas do that? That sounds perfectly acceptable to me, there is plenty of people I've wanted to headbutt in my life so I respect their decision.

Ah hello Trollheart. It's great to finally be posting again. I can't believe it's been 7 years since I joined and even then I was lurking for a year beforehand. I've still been following your journals to this day. Keep it up man

What can I say, I've lived in Leeds, Cambridge/Suffolk, London and it's never been as tedious to cross the road. It's probably just all in my head but I swear to you it takes forever to cross a road in Edinburgh.

Best decision ever and I remember you hyping the city up.

It really is, although what was really great about Edinburgh has been diminished by Covid19. It saddens me that everywhere I look some of my favourite independent shops and bars have been taken out of business due to the pandemic and the fringe festival is but a distant dream.
Still I hold out hope that this year can be the year the city comes alive and of course I urge as many tourists and friends to visit as much as they can.

Welcome to MB, Dianne! Good to have another Londoner here. I was born&bred in SW London - I have been as far east as Peckham, Crystal Palace and Croydon, but turned back in fear after going so far from home!

Hi, Thelonious! I wonder if it's because of the weather; waiting to cross a road always takes longer when it's cold, wet or windy. That's a scientific fact.

2 Stretton Road, Croydon, Surrey. and the old house still looks similar on Google Earth but the inside has so improved when I saw it up for sale...Went to Davidson Road Infant School and they soon knew me... my nick name was WildCat no idea why, as was not a Cat and do not look so much like one either.
Croydon though a troublesome place now I understand, are the old George Street Almshouses still there as so many changes. I can see on Google Earth quite a few of the old buildings remain with the shops underneath...Some I can see have gone forever..shame on developers and such like..Quite the opposite in France we have old houses that look like they should be demolished and cleared away to start again.
Maybe its because I'm a Londoner, that I love London Town...

1. Which do you prefer, and why?

City. I've only ever lived in the country once and it was just boring farmland. It's like suburban life but even more isolated and with longer drive times to go anywhere.

Where my cousins grew up in Vermont though, is a small town in the mountains that only has a thousand or so little in it. I think it would be really cool to grow up somewhere like that... I used to love visiting them... It was so beautiful. But I couldn't live there as an adult. I need access to civilization.

2. If you were able to switch (country to city/city to country) would you? if I could afford to I would rather live in NYC.

3. What do you like best about where you are (city or countryside)? the weather, cost of living

4. And what do you hate about it? the people and how they talk/drive/etc

5. If you were/are living in the country, what animal would you adopt to be your friend/pet?
Don't really think I'd want a pet.

6. What do you think is your most important responsibility in the city or country (wherever you live)?
??? I have no idea what this question means lol
