I guess flyers can be considered art. Here's my latest for our next gig coming up:

http://i539.photobucket.com/albums/f...pse7ffede9.jpg

Nothing fancy, but it gets the point across. I've seen some really elaborate flyers, but I just don't feel the need to put all kinds of effort into these.

Awesome poster Plankton! What program did you use to assemble it?

Photoshop, and some random images. I do our Ads/Web/Brochures/Trade Show Banners here at work that are quite a bit more elaborate, but I won't spam this thread up with em.

Thanks man.

Plankton 11-20-2013 11:34 AM

Modded the pic I took at the show last night for a couple friends that couldn't make it. I'm a terrible person to have as a friend.

Yeah, it's fixed on my end. I'll leave this one here just for the spooky factor.

Although I should delete the post about the ****up.

Say, I know nothing whatsoever about art; I'm not even a dilettante. But this I found majestic! Congratulations!

ladyislingering 12-02-2013 12:25 AM

I found all these lovely Victorian paintings by James Tissot tonight and just felt like sharing.

Because I am poor, I am making all of my gifts this Christmas. This is a picture of one of our deceased cats, for my mom, in watercolour. WIP, obviously.

Sansa Stark 12-06-2013 02:10 PM

omg that is beautiful Meg

I want a painting!!!

Paedantic Basterd 12-06-2013 02:15 PM

Thank you! I'm 75% certain she is going to cry.

Believe it or not this is only like, the 3rd watercolour I've ever seriously worked at, and I'm finding I really enjoy it. It doesn't take as long to start to look like I envisioned it, unlike ****ing acrylic paint, which I always give up on long before it looks like more than blobs. It's also very forgiving, very bright paint. I could get into this.

I might have to put it off until the summer when I have the time, but it might be fun to make a lil'summat for my MB buddies.

Sansa Stark 12-06-2013 02:17 PM

I still have to send you those books, hehehe

hopefully over the summer

Dr_Rez 12-07-2013 08:55 AM

That picture is amazing, Im sure she will love it. How did you get the tiles so straight?

Thank you! I drew them within a 1" X 1" grid and hoped for the best, haha.

Paedantic Basterd 12-07-2013 07:49 PM

I'm pretty sure I just ruined this accidentally.

So much for Christmas, mom. :(

Looking good! I'm assuming the one on the right is the latest.

As you can see, I prefer drawing in pencil, and I'm really lazy, so cba with backgrounds most of the time. :)

Pedestrian, your cat picture is gorgeous, I love the extra touches you've added to the whiskers, and the light on her face. A portrait of your own pet, by any chance? :)

GD 12-14-2013 04:33 PM

Wow, xLizardx those are great! :) and not to be overly critical or anything but I imagine they could be even better still if you added a bit more texture and contrast (especially on the pencil drawings), although it could just be that it gets lost in the scanning process. (I find that the finer nuances of drawings often fades when you scan them :()

That's alright, I don't think that you're gigantically debasing me :D

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I'm a pretty lazy drawer, so don't worry, you're not the first person to make a similar suggestion haha. They are probably a little better in the original versions I guess...? Sometimes I play with the brightness/ contrast after uploading if they come out as too insipid after scanning, but I don't think I did on any of the ones I posted.

I enjoy drawing, but I don't really do it very often - I'm too easily distracted by other things. I probably spend more time writing/ recording music, or simply writing. :)

Do you draw at all, or have any music or writing online? Apologies if you've already posted artwork, the number of back-pages on this thread is a bit intimidating, so I confess I've not looked through them. I probably should though, given the subject matter.

I wish I could paint as awesomely as the dude who did the cat, that one's incredible!

Actually:
Spoiler for videos being off topic in an art thread:

+

And there's the story of that. I don't really think I have it in me to genuinely debase someone gigantically.

I do some drawing from time to time in fact, but I haven't done so in a while now. I have some drawings in planning actually and I might post them in this thread if I am pleased with them when they're finished, although that probably won't be before after New Year's at least. But I haven't posted any of my drawings on here yet, as I have only been a member for a month.
Also, I don't think think you're expected to backtrack extensively through the thread, so relax. :)

And just so you know, Pedestrian is a female. :)
(Or am I completely out in the fields here? I am almost certain, but if not: Sorry, Pedestrian.)

Burning Down 12-14-2013 08:06 PM

Ped, those watercolours are amazing. Seriously. You really have a gift.

Grogsy 12-14-2013 10:10 PM

I'm new here and I'll go through this entire thread when I have more time. Looks like there are some very talented, artistic folk here on this forum

Paedantic Basterd 12-14-2013 11:36 PM

Thanks so much guys! I predict she will tear up and say "****, Meg". If she does, then it was a job well done.

Paul Smeenus 12-17-2013 12:30 AM

Speaking of jobs, I wish I wasn't the least artistic human on the face of the earth, dear lord would I love this job
