Ears aren't level anyway Ped, well mines aren't I always feel a slight squint when I wear sunglasses or that.
|
Yes, as Cru Hoor says, the colours are very effective. I`m particularly impressed by the unflinching look in your eyes, and the way you`ve drawn your hair so that it seems to fall so naturally.
Altogether it`s a very attractive portrait, though I think you`ve been uncharitable about your nose - much prettier in the MB photos thread ! |

Would make a good album cover. |
Thanks guys. I have some kind of series in mind of self-portraits with skin-diseases, but I'm not adept with paint and I can't think of another medium I'd want to do it in.

^Beautiful^

Nice! Another great work by Cru Hoor. And a bit less on the abstract side than usual. I love the colors and the strong, yet still relaxing impact.

^Very nice!

Thanks Jansz! And just finished:

I love that one. There's something about it I find disturbing.

My brother's always pressuring me to go to an art academy. Meh! I just wanna sleep and listen to music, aaand occasionally spend my time with a pencil. Besides, I can only draw from photos and am not very original myself.
|
That's some pretty skilled illustration, certainly worthy of an art academy. It would be cool to see that image animated in a sequence- it feels like a still shot. I guess some artists create more from observation than pure imagination. The most astonishingly amazing results, I find, tend to come from artists who can do both.
Do you find it easier to be original if you are given a concept to work with? Or do you draw most of your inspiration from images that capture your attention? Either way, I really like what you accomplished with that drawing :) |

Geekoid: Typically an image or a concept will occur to me, then I will redraw it as near I can to how I visualized it, sometimes pulling on reference photos. |
I can certainly see that, Pedestrian. Your art looks like it came from somewhere within an imaginary construct or vision, but then there's still that grounding in reality that makes it less "cartoon"-like and more sophisticated. Your portraits show your ability to draw from a reference, but there's always a definite personality that comes out in them.
I've haven't seen anything quite like your style before; it's kind of like the sort of thing artists make using Illustrator and post online (for memes, comics and whatnot), but with a kind of interesting grotesque distortion that's really playful and striking. I never know quite what to think or feel when I look at them; but for that very reason they're alluring. |

I lost my passion for artwork over years of focusing on technicality and finding that my aptitude (portraiture) was pleasant, but ultimately not moving for anybody. Sometime in the last year I realized that there isn't a wrong way to make art, and that's really empowered me to explore my imagination. Thank you again! |
No problem! I'm glad your artistic vision is coming across the way you were hoping. I'm not quite there yet, but only time and confidence will get me to that place (I hope). I'll be keeping my eye out for more :)

I don't know why. That's just the impression it gave me. Nice work, man! |

Anyway, besides drawing I also make little videos (mostly stop motion) and with them I find it much more easier to be original with. So, I guess my problem with drawing is that I can really only draw what I see with my eyes. |

I like your style, Pedestrian, though it's very different from the art I make. Do you do this for living? Graphic designing or something? Or are you an art student? Or just for fun? Also, how do you do these? I've never done pictures with computer, so I don't know the process. Enough questions? Let's see...hmm...yup, I think enough for now :D

I'm just doing this for pleasure at the moment. I'm untrained and unpaid, and this is just one of my little creative outlets. It would be amusing to see it take off into something more though! What I do is I draw up the original idea, ink it, scan it, then I use ghetto-photoshop to add the colour in. |
Bare in mind I never studied art, I only took it up 2 years ago as a hobby, I have not really ever painted people before, I thought I should start with myself last night. I wasn't very sobre doing this.

Dangit, Cru Hoor. Even drunk, you're better than I am.

I am not too happy with this one but my mother loves it. She put it up in the kitchen. http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...ue-d58q1l7.jpg |

Haha, that's great!

Thanks! :)

Thank you! :)
I clicked the link and my first reaction was a huge smile on my face. I don't know if it's supposed to make people smile, but it's great if an image makes people react spontaneously. You have some great ones on your fb page, too. I especially liked the cat in the diving suit. |
Your reaction is indeed a large compliment. Thank you!
|
That's hilarious, Pedestrian. Your art really reminds me of my own, if I had a better sense of scale and was a hair less trippy.
