Spotted this in an estate sale gallery today and couldn't believe my eyes.*
Apparently, this is a $700-$900 rug from the Guggenheim Arts Collection. I'm in the wrong business.

I was really good at realism at school but I didn't grasp the finer points of surrealism. I didn't work on comics until I made my own cartoon style characters like Ren & Stimpy and Nickeloden. then in 2005 I started drawing comicbooks that are like Simpsons newsagent comics crossed with storyboards. I used my character Jimbob Jorkey and his friends. I started to draw at a slightly elevated level than what I was doing in my spare time between lessons which was lots of stick figures warring. Then after I left school, I had some time off to refine it because I was really ill. I'd say I've been making comics for 10 years at this level, it hasn't changed much but I find I'm more able to communicate the subject I want to. It's a really tiring way of working because I do pencils, then I do really fine inks and rub out the pencils then I "laquer" it up and kinda of twist a second layer over the top. My favourite part has always been working with colour. Painted the borders black for dramatic license. Same stuff but I coloured it in. I used watercolours, felt tip pens and colouring pencils. I would use colouring pencils all the time if the paper grain would allow. Last edited by crukster; 11-17-2016 at 01:20 PM. |

Thanks, that's ok. Hey crukster, we love the things you do. Hey, Crukster, if we could I would be you. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...82621411_o.jpg They're Great! This is a short ten page comic that's music inspired so you guys might like it. I got to ten pages, and it was like this has to be finished I can't keep dragging the story along. So I just ended it because my line of focus snapped. I don't tell anyone but I've had trouble reading and writing for a long time. By that I mean I don't read novels like I would if I knew how to. If I could, I'd just draw the pictures like in a children's book. Because I can't decide where to start from, I put in a few characters from each of the different worlds I use. So although I'd normally work parallel, I worked them in altogether. It's fun, the thing is, they have to appear separatley anyway so you realise, I might as well just save them for another comic or story I'm telling. I think the mixing part is what slayed me. I should just work on them with the guys they share the world with. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...58732309_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...86114021_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...98174317_o.jpg I applied for a job earlier this year and sent them this, but they didn't want me on set design. So it was a no go. I really like the colourfulness of it, it's just I don't want the characters in the books to say much. Thanks a lot everyone! Have a great time, enjoy the artwork. https://www.facebook.com/Rabid-Monk-...9330751139697/ Sorry for the double post, continue! 11/20 Here's five pages of some new pages in Chapter 1 of my comic. I left it at a continue page so now I'm picking it up, and I'm interested to work on the characters a few pages at a time and jump from chapter to chapter, so I can fill up a book with comics. Ideally, I want it to come across as random sporadic and what I mean by that is natural and spontaneous. Also, I want there to be some established story for the characters, so if I do enough of that I can just start cropping up gag joke pages in between. It just picks right up where I left off which you can read on the facebook page. I use a Sharpie to half the time, and I don't colour it in. I mostly improvise the dialogue to get the right beat - but I had a lot of these pages pencilled already so I'm not working from scratch, it's more like recovery. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...08874031_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...75341681_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...44643183_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...99495478_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...20676786_o.jpg Thanks, enjoy the artwork Peace. - Sin Last edited by crukster; 11-20-2016 at 04:59 AM.
