Coolest tatoo ever. If I could get one it would be in the sanskrit variation like in my avatar.

^sorry for my ignorance, but what does it mean?

I'd like to get two tattoos, something to do with Elliott Smith and my dad's name written in Tengwar, but my mum said she'd kick me out of the house if I got one done, so I'll have to wait till I have a house of my own haha

The Dead Mantra, it says "He who fears death can not enjoy life".

My first exposure to it was in the song "Dead Mantra" by Dead Skeletons and I'm not entirely sure if he came up with it or if he got it from somewhere... either way they are words to live by and other people seem to agree with me.

I like it, it has a very deep meaning it's a great tattoo, definitely.

Thanks man, I want to spread the word about Nonni's music without sounding like too much of a fanboy. You could hop over on the Dead Skeletons thread and show your appreaciation if you wanted... since I just updated and no one else has posted in it besides me.

‎"Quien teme la muerte no goza la vida."
"He who fears death cannot enjoy life."

This old Spanish proverb inspired the artist, Jón Sæmundur Auðarson to create Dead as an art concept and as a business. Dead was unveiled on June 16, 2003, as wa...s Nonnabúð, a modest basement shop in an alley off Reykjavík's main shopping street. The shop struck a chord with Icelanders, making Dead a runaway success, off the beaten path and on it's own terms.

Dead was the result of a life changing experience for Jón. Having been diagnosed as HIV and Hepatitis C positive in 1994, he was forced to confront and conquer his fear of death. Since then Jon has managed to get rid of the Hepatitis C with the help of alternative medicines. Stay tuned this year 2010 for the latest news on the HIV virus battlefronts.

Dead remains committed to raising public awareness towards the HIV virus as it is.

Dead is focused on life, a paradox intended to shock people into thought. A benign virus. The concept is Dead and alive.

Would you ever get it in Spanish, since that's the original quote, or no?

clementine 12-06-2010 01:14 AM

^ that's interesting, thanks! the combination of the phrase and the logo looks great and I like the one in sanskrit or latin better, but maybe that's just because spanish seems a bit boring to me haha.

I've just written in the dead skeletons post btw!

No, I had never heard of him talk about that as I've just added his facebook pages not too long ago and I've been on the dead website and didn't see it. I'm just a really lazy googler/searcher.
