I don't think it was done due to any moral implications.

It was just Lydon playing the Johnny Rotten character.

The fact that Madonna is in any "hall of fame" is laughable. I cannot stand that woman.

When I was younger, I used to watch the MTV awards. They used to actually be good... back when they played music.

If you base your ideas of who's contributed greatly to music off of either of those institutions, then you might be mentally retarded.

I think Pop Music Hall of Fame would probably be more appropriate. There are several groups and individuals in the H.O.F. whose music is not at all Rock n Roll but they are in nonetheless. I am not a fan of many of the inductees but I like that the place exists if for no other reason than I can go somewhere where music history has been collected and documented and I can learn about it.

I hate artists that scorn the R&R hall of fame. Music isn't a competition and its more figurehead bull****. But to garth brooks your award is stupid.

If music isn't a competition, why has the policial nature of accepting your award been factored into your decision.

I'd respect an artist more if they were like "I actually have dinner plans that night" than if they vehemently opposed it. It comes off to me as just as big a PR move as the awards themselves.

I'm more credible than both.

I don't see the problem with Madonna being in there. Its all popular music at the end of the day, and she was one of the main faces for that in the 80's.

chiron 05-05-2008 11:43 AM

Both are equally incredible.

the problem is anyone who dares say they like the RRHoF with her in there loses the ability to be accepted in their group of eye-liner wearing friends.

I don't mind Madonna being a music hall of fame, it's more the fact they spend so much time emphasizing it's a rock and roll hall of fame and then induct pop stars into it.
