Well I for one welcome different beliefs, no matter how incredible or unlikely they seem. Jesus. UFOs. Spirits. Entities. Allah. I don't care. People can believe what they want. Either things exist or they don't. Believing or disbelieving doesn't change what is. And what is? I've no idea. No one does.

I'm the f**king model of tolerance! Bloody modest too.

Pretty solid theory, grindy. The idea of existence in a fifth or sixth dimension is probably something we can't understand on a cognitive level but rather feel its presence in our bodies.

Well there's your problem.

You believe things just because their concept exists?

Thank you for accepting my belief in metadimensional entheogenic ethanology.

No. I believe in nothing. Maybe that's a belief? A belief in nothing.

But I think a lot of things. Mainly nonsense, admittedly, but I think it says something when someone can't mention UFOs or spirits or Jesus without being mocked. People mock someone if they're too straight-laced, and people mock them if they believe in the unproven. Seems only those who tread within narrow parameters are accepted.

I believe in nothing as well and sure, ultimately reality is just a construction of the mind.
But we can still try to reach some form of truth in the constrictions of this abolute, philosophical unknowability. And in the quest towards this truth some methods of reaching it seem more useful than others.
I see no harm in mocking the sillier examples of the latter, as long as you mock the belief and not the person having it. Even the best of us tend to believe silly ****.

I understand your point of view. But if reality is a mental contruct, why not let people construct whatever reality they want? Why do their constructs have to measure up to ours? In such a scenario, mocking doesn't make any sense. It's kinda like saying your illusions are more illusionary than mine. Haha. You know what I mean?

Still, I suppose if people are free to believe whatever they want then people are free to mock.

Why discuss anything? Let's all live in a totally unquestioned fantasy world.

If somebody's mental construct tells them that it won't hurt me to hit me in the face with a brick, then I'd like to disabuse him of the notion. Possibly by demonstrating on his own face his logical fallacy.

Mocking makes a lot of sense because it's fun and makes me feel better about my inadequacies.
