So someone ate 12 tabs of acid and lived to tell the tale? Holy fucking shit, we have some seriously hardcore junkies in da house...respekt.

P.S... I'm not completely sure, but from what I know, acid (in any practical dosage) isn't known to be lethal in and of itself. |

Yes, I was referring more to the fact that such a person is now able to converse with us on the internet...and knows what the internet is....
But yeah, dosage. It's a bummer. Never know what you're gonna get. I remember times when I used to get wasted on a third of a tab, now I barely register 3/4...I was a little worried about taking a whole tab (not wanting to battle dragons and all that) but with this particular batch I might as well go for it...:\

No, acid isn't lethal in recreational doses, perhaps not even in high doses. From my reading, I've been able to find only one death which may have been the drug itself, and it was someone who shot up liquid, and may have been on numerous other substances as well.
I've known many, many people to take strips before concerts (10 hits) and quite a few people who take in excess of that. Also, (possibly?) interesting anecdote: A good friend of mine is really deeply involved with the Grateful Dead "family", and on numerous occasions has been to a residence in the northeastern US where they synthesize LSD and prepare it as blotter and liquid for distribution. One of the...maybe hazing is the word?...rituals or whatever that they have people do prior to joining this branch of the family is a "thumbprint". Basically, that entails licking your thumb and dipping it into pure, crystal LSD then putting it back in your mouth. At this point, as LSD is active in such small doses (micrograms), they have taken so much acid that it really is no longer even measured in hits. It would be in the thousands, though. And strangely, he's witnessed this ritual twice, and it apparently led to no lasting damage for the participants. He didn't do it himself, though - didn't want to risk it. I wouldn't either.

LSD (and any other drug) has a half-life in your system. It only lasts so long, and it doesn't actually change any connections in your brain. It only has an effect while it's active in your system. While there is speculation that it can trigger psychosis or other mental illness in those who are already prone to it, I wouldn't call that an attribute of the drug... but rather an attribute of the user. |

Just to touch on this, there are some drugs (but not LSD as you mentioned) that can permanently alter your brain functions, mainly disassociatives (PCP, Ketamine, DXM, Nitrous Oxide, etc.). They have been shown to create vacuoles or holes in your brain that never regenerate. I believe they refer to it as "Olney's Lesions."

I'm not sure if you would classify it as "flashbacks" or not, but I ALWAYS get into a certain headspace or mindset when I'm tripping on psychadelics or disassociatives. It's like whenever I start tripping, my thoughts and experiences pick right back up where the last trip left off, regardless of my trip's setting or my mood at the time. Sort of like a mental plane that can only be accessed by mind altering substances, but with a fluid and progressive timeline.
