Hmm, I just dislike the stigma about it and the people/groups typically associated with it.

Pathetic as it sounds, videogames/computers are my drug.

RVCA - I'm not going to try to convince you that you should try drugs or anything of the sort, but I don't understand quite your thoughts on the "stigma" surrounding the groups / people who do drugs, particularly pot.

I know people from all walks of life of all ages who smoke pot - college students, music fans, Phish fans, college professors, teachers, actors, businessmen, etc. etc.

While there are the select few who do little else and don't really contribute much to society, there are many others who you wouldn't even peg as pot smokers. In all reality, it's just a little less prevalent than drinking, at least where I'm from.

I can definitely understand negative thoughts towards harder drugs, and I understand all of the anti-pot propaganda that is fed to people, but it really seems to me that there are far worse things that people can do than smoke pot.

No I totally agree, I'm just not sure how to articulate my attitude towards pot. I'd like to say I have nothing against those who use it, but that'd be a lie.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to convince but have you ever just thought of smoking marijuana? It just seems that peoples minds usually change when they try something. I had a completely different attitude towards pot when I had never tried it. I thought, I'm never going to do drugs, and went along with all the "Just say No," and all that bull****.
I assumed that everyone who used it were stupid, and were trying to look cool. And while there are people who do it just to fit in or to be cool, there are those who truly like the high that it gives you. I tried it by myself, and I found out it was a great way to just forget about everything, and just chill.

Don't go along with all that propaganda, it's bull****.

I'm just saying, given the chance, I really think you should try it, and if you really don't like it afterwards, than stay away from it.

I usually like the kind of people who use drugs. Punks, hippies, daydreamers, musicians.
I just don't do them myself because I can do without and I don't mind staying healthy .

But I must say I'm usually good friends with the people who do drugs. Strange thing.
Never had the urge to try it myself.

It's rare to find a potsmoker who is a douchbag. They're usually pretty cool to hang out with. Why haven't you had the urge to try it?!? You live in the Netherlands! You are living my dream! You should really try it some time, if you are worried about smoking (which is not known to be hazardous to your health), get some THC pills or find another way to get that THC in your system, enjoy the high, and find out what all the hype is about.

I'm actually surprised by how much and how open you discuss drugs here.
I get the feeling it's more of a taboo here than it is there .

And as I mentioned: I manage without drugs just fine and altough the risks may be limited, I wouldn't know why I would want to risk my health when I don't need to.
I'm already a bit of a fat guy, so I already have one health concern.

But I love to be amongst potsmokers.
Altough most of my close friends don't do drugs, I always feel right at home in an alternative café or a music café amongst stoners. They're the nicest people around. Even when they're not stoned .

I'm just saying I would be in the cafés at least once a day. To me, it would be heaven, smoking pot casually, socializing with other people, some music, sounds perfect to me.

I doubt it is any more of a taboo there than it is here.
I get what you mean by doing fine just without it, to each his own way of life. : )
