...Dunno why I unsubscribed to this thread.

I'm a natural girl, if it's natural I'll do it. Figure if it grows out of the ground and won't kill me outright(like poisonous plants) then it can't be too horrible.

And pot totally helps my anxiety. Finally got the medical marijuana bill passed in MI and it only covers physical problems and not psychological ones, dammit. Only a matter of time though.

Weed helps your anxiety? How does that work? Not saying you're bull****ting, but usually it has the anxious effect and all that

Oh yea man... Shroom kits are definitely out there. When I was in Amsterdam pretty much every smart shop had them.
You don't really need to buy the kits though. It's just a matter of convenience. If you can buy spores, which are easier and cheaper than the whole kit, then you can build the rest on your own.
There are a lot of fantastic growing guides out there. Videos and everything. Just takes time and effort really. And attention to detail especially. You can screw up an entire potential crop if your gear isn't sterile.

Depending on the strain it can either really calm you, or have more mind altering effects. Obviously, this person is smoking a relaxing strain.

There was a study very recently published in Norway which again shows a scientifically significant correlation between marijuana and anxiety. Specifically, this study showed that people who smoke marijuana recieve significantly more medication against anxiety than people who do not smoke.

That works as an indicator, but a multitude of studies show the same trends and scientifically speaking, that there is a positive correlation between anxiety disorders and smoking marijuana should today be established fact and common knowledge. A study I saw from way back in 1981 showed about 50% of smokers in the US had experienced anxiety attack while high so this knowledge is not new, it's just been so strongly opposed by denial and wishful thinking.

I'm not saying it's a problem for all who smoke, but I don't one should advertise marijuana as something that helps against anxiety :p: Following that advice as a way to treat yourself sounds a bit risky and potentially extremely counter-productive.

And some of the stuff that grows out of the ground can have some really nasty consequences for people, so I don't think that's a good criteria to go by when trying to figure out if something is bad for you or not!

I don't have generalized anxiety, I have social anxiety, and it's minor. I'm basically in constant fear of what other people think of me. When I smoke I loosen up around people and it makes me more comfortable.

I could understand how it negatively affects persons with generalized anxiety though.

but marijuana is prescribed by medical doctors specifically as medication for anxiety disorders. i think it is perfectly fair to advertise it as something that helps with anxiety--at a doctor's discretion of course.

Really? This isn't something I've heard of, so I'd like to see a good source to back this claim before I'm prepared to believe it. The reason is, aside from what I mentioned in my last post, there are other medications which are very effective against anxiety so there shouldn't even be much need for doctors to prescribe it even if it could help.

I looked for it and anxiety treatment is not something that comes up in the wikipedia article for medicinal cannabis.

I'll back his claim. I have seen it in California. I know Dr. Frankel from Green Bridge Medical prescribes MJ for mental health reasons.

Cannabis, clearly helps patients with clinical depression and anxiety. I have no doubt that for many patients with mild or moderate anxiety or depression, Cannabis clearly helps them. It has virtually no side effects and when the correct strains are administered in the correct manner at the correct time, they are both effective and extremely safe.

Cannabanoids are being found to have many more medical characteristics every day. Scientists have found evidence contradictory to current negative mental health beliefs in the affect of MJ on the brain. Thus including psychosis and schizophrenia.

Guybrush 05-11-2010 09:53 PM

Actually, reading Dr. Frankel's site, he too admits that cannabis does cause anxiety.

On the other hand, low doses of more activating strains of Cannabis very rarely, if ever, cause these symptoms.

.. But he seems to think that strain is the important thing and that some strains may be used to great effect in treating anxiety. I can accept such a claim as it's certainly a bit more moderated than a general claim that MJ is good against anxiety. ;)
