Well don't underestimate it. It's only legal because it hasn't been fully realized yet. It's a research chemical. A lot of other drugs started out that way.
There isn't any research data I'm aware of as far as consumption and toxicity, so caution is advised.
Generally, though, the main drawback is that it's extremely moreish and people tend to take a lot more than they initially intended, which could potentially lead to immediate issues inherent to introducing too much of any chemical into your body at once. I'd say if you bought a gram from one of the UK websites, don't go about doing the whole gram yourself in one night... which from what I read... is deceptively easy.

What's the status of salvia in the US and the UK? I know it's illegal here, I'm curious as to what the attitude of the drug is overseas because last time I was aware it was legal and I thought it was just going to be a matter of time before somebody said it was 'dangerous' and needed to be banned...

Salvia is illegal in some states. Louisiana, I know for sure. Not sure of the others.
