feel free bro

i can't remember the last time anything other than alcohol altered my consciousness. it's been a while. the last joint i smoked was laced with PCP (i found it on the floor of a bar (oops)) and that put me off of weed for a long time. now that i'm married i don't do anything anymore.
back in college i tried a bit of everything. actually a lot of everything. i used to put mushrooms in my coffee grinder, buzz them into a powder, then make hallucinogenic guacamole. ah, the memories! |

not everyone that uses recreational substances are illiterate degenerates. i am sorry you dont understand that plenty of perfectly normal, successful, and otherwise law abiding citizens that take recreational drugs. everyone from your god send savior "obama" down to the joe the plumber have smoked bud. you know what else? they probably thought it was something interesting to talk about at some point. considering the ties these recreational substances have with musicians and the music they made, it is actually a pretty relevant discussion topic. like with every thread there is plenty of garbage in here, but there has been quite a bit of positive discussion and quality post by some of the members. we would LOVE to have you contribute to the thread, and unless i am mistaken you are a self admitted smoker of the herb yourself. |

@jgd85: I have wondered for some time now... What in the hell are you doing in your avatar?? Eating something, smoking, sucking your thumb, looking at something small? |

There's plenty more worthwhile things to discuss, both Washington and Massachusetts (admittedly they're two of the most liberal states, one allows gay marriage and the other has one of the better civil unions programs out of everyone else and will probably end up flat out legalizing gay marriage itself in a few years) have decriminalized Marijuana which could be a major step up to more states (probably California next if these sort of trends go blue states first as they normally do) following suit. That to me - looser drug laws and keeping nonviolent offenders out of prison - is far more exciting than "dude I got so high this weekend." |
I have a feeling that even if marijuana decriminalization catches on that i will probably still be waiting a while, because Indiana has a strong stance against marijuana use for any reasons. I have even written emails to the congressman to ask his personal views one the topic and he didn't seem too keen on the idea of medical or recreational use.

Washington has a medical marijuana program and it took this step just this year. I don't expect this to happen quickly but I think over the next ten years the more liberal states are going to go this way as well. It's heartening when you consider how these movements happen historically, obviously the more conservative states are going to be the last to go but eventually they'll break. There's no rational reason to ban marijuana, especially for it's medical purposes. If I had to go through the horrors of chemotherapy I'd want weed. Studies show that it's incredibly good for people under going chemotherapy as it keeps up their appetite (chemotherapy causes nausea and makes digestion difficult, marijuana reverses this effect.)
