The Career Thread
I don't spend that much time in the Lounge but I thought I'd drop by and make this thread.
So this is the career thread. If you have a job, tell us what it is. If you're studying for a qualification, tell us as well. What do you want to do with your life? ... Sorry if this is a repost Right now I'm doing a BE in software engineering with hopes of becoming a game programmer. I'm also learning various languages since I want to travel a lot in the future.

I also want to travel a lot - ideally on tour with a band, but however. I don't really know what I want to do though. I'm at college just now and I'm going to uni next year. I dunno though, sometimes I think I'd be happy just having a part-time job, sharing a flat in the city with some friends, and spending as much time as possible on making music, writing, and going out. Something that's entirely unfocused on a "job", and more focused on leisure and my relationships with other people. A job that pays well is obviously going to help get what I want, but the last thing I want to happen is become one of these guys that becomes consumed by their jobs and loses touch with what their life. I've seen it happen first hand. but that's probably stupid youthful idealism I think focusing on a career is not a bad thing, it just depends on your perspective. I'd like to write, in some capacity. Whether it's a newspaper, a novel, or a music mag. I'm probably going to take a joint course of philosophy and something writing-based. |

I'm currently doing A levels in Biology, Chemistry, English Lit and Psychology. I'm not sure about my future right now, I'd like to go to university though and I hope those qualifications should open some doors.
