It's fun to look at your charts, you can discover new bands, find out about events happening in your city etc...

I just think its cool to see like over the last year what I've listened to most..and at the end of every week you can how much of what you've listened to. There are some features where you can find bands that are "apparently" similar to other bands that you like. I think the best thing thats come from using Last.Fm for me is looking at one of my neighbours charts who had almost the exact same taste as me and seeing Portugal. The Man. A band I had never even heard of at the time. So I listened to it, and they're now easilly in my top 5 favourite bands.

I don't really use last. fm as a radio station, because I have to skip a big percentage of the tracks it plays, because I don't like them! I do use it as a scrobbler so people can see the sort of shít I listen to!

I think there was a topic on some last.fm group forum titled "why are people on last.fm so obsessed with statistics" or summat to that effect. I think it has summat to do with OCD. That's the only reason why I use it, to quantify my music taste(s). That's how I know my favorite band are The shins. :-/

Plus you get to laugh at other people's moot choices.:-|
