@Unfan...the "stupid, strict poppyhead mods" that you so kindly refer to in the 'Shoutbox', are the ones that have to trawl through endless posts that most here wouldn't even dream of, or even bother reading, deleting spam, moving/closing threads, answering PM's and generally trying to keep this forum neat and tidy so members like you don't have to read the shit that would otherwise clog this place up.

All that before I get to spend time posting in threads that interest me, or dick about having a bit of fun.

So when I see a member who has, what appears to be, an 'Account Disabled' status, I naturally read through that persons recent posts to investigate why that particular member has been banned..
Having then wasted 10 minutes of my time, I then have to log into the mod CP to check if that members name is listed in the MB Hall Of The Banned.

You can imagine my hilarity at discovering that yet another colourful MusicBanter member has pulled, 'that old chestnut'...yet again.

After I stop pissing myself with laughter and wipe the tears of joy from my eyes at falling for above jape and once again manage to regain my composure...AGAIN!

I then wistfully reflect on the question...

As people STILL think it's oh-so-funny to put account disabled as their user status after all this has been posted i'm done with giving warnings & asking nicely for people to get rid of it.

From now on you want this as your user title you'll get it.

So we banned someone without sticking this thread, or adding it to the rules or warning them first, nice.

So may I ask what your motivation was for doing something that Right-Track & myself asked people not to do just a week or so before?

The way I see it you either did it for 2 reasons.

1. To take the piss
2. You were unlucky enough to do it at the wrong place & time

In the case of 1 , quite honestly you got what you deserve. In the case of 2 it may have been harsh but then life is sometime.

It was the case of 2. The fact that you were too much of a lazy cunt to even think to find out is a sign of an inexperienced mod with too much power and not enough sense.

The issue here is:
1) you leap to ban somebody who hasn't had an infraction in months. Why?
2) you're banning them over a rule that's more a pet hate than something that's by necessity for the site (and something that would be more easily solved and less disruptive for the community by simply altering the forum settings, as has been suggested already but not acted upon).
3) the rule that you're banning them over isn't stickied ANYWHERE, it's not in ANY rule threads. The only way a person can know about it is if they were reading the Lounge between the 15th to the 17th of august, and thought the thread named "Account Disabled" would be an interesting read. Protip: that's not a good way for people to know about a rule.

Like I said , you came & did it after a glut of other people did it when my patience was tested.Had you done it a couple of months ago or a couple on months later you probably would have got PMed about it first.
But like I said after a glut of other people doing it and getting bombarded with PMs asking 'why has so & so been banned , 'why do I have to change my account status blah blah blah , it gets tiresome very quickly.
I'm not ban happy , in fact in a year of moderating i've not even reached double figures when it comes to banning people so please don't trot out the 'too much power' crap.
I was not made a mod because i'm some automaton who always does the right thing all the time. I'm human , I lose my pateince , I get frustrated , it happens. You are not infallible & neither am I.
I said it was harsh in the circumstances , but like I said it was a call I made at the time. Usually when someone makes a harsh decision it's bought up in the mod forum for discussion.
In your case nobody did.

If you look at Dons username you'll see a strike through it, which means hes banned. So you can go change your usertitle to Account Disabled all you want and think you're the wittiest poster ever and it won't be that convincing. Though it wasn't that convincing to begin with since most of you left your signatures on which you wouldn't have if you were banned...
