have you never been to houston? or dallas? both these MAJOR CITIES all host a variety of folks from all different walks of life. and AUSTIN is as hippie/loving/accepting/LIBERAL as north california.

so basically you either A have been to some po-dunk town that is certainly not a good representation of the state or B have not been, are completely ignorant, and talking out of your ass

I take B. Did I win something?

But honestly, don't you think major cities are an exception to the rule? I wouldn't exactly say Zagreb is representative of my entire country...:-/

Plus, Texas is "the strongest Republican state in the nation". That ain't no good thing...

just because its the "strongest" republican state doesn't mean there are not any liberals. not every state can be democratic... otherwise there would be no balance. learn how to RESPECT all views and be able to thrive in a society in which you are a minority... it will make you a stronger person.

also, when 50% of the states population is in just those 3 cities/metropolitan areas ... it is somewhat representative.

And yet, despite it being a predominantly urban state (according to you that is), you're still a Republican state, that says it all really. As far as me learning to respect all views, I don't and no one should. Some views are just wrong, the republican view is wrong, people who are republicans are narrow minded, more often than not Christian, homophobic, bloodthirsty jackasses.

In short, if I were to move to the States, Texas would be the last place I'd want to live in. No offense, I'm sure you're a nice bloke.

do i really need to comment on how ass backwards that statement is? you talk about how close minded people are by saying 'their views are wrong'... which is a close minded statement.

just because people think a certain way that doesn't agree with what you think doesn't make you right. why is what you believe ultimately the TRUTH and correct, you could be ****ing it up worse than them. realize that its about a balance and understanding. you cant just write people off like that.

also understand that certain people were born and raised to certain feelings about things like religion and homosexuality. realize they are misunderstanding and try and help them understand your point of view.... don't tell them they are ****ing idiots and that you know whats right, you wont ever get anywhere and you are being just as wrong and idiotic as them.

... im stepping off my

Just as a logical exercise (meaning, I'm not actually comparing the two), am I supposed to try and "understand" and "accept" Nazism or Fascism so as not to appear narrow minded? Certain ideologies are simply wrong (as you appear to understand in the latter part of your post). Denying certain groups of people basic human rights is wrong, letting religion interfere with politics is wrong, invading other countries is wrong, and so on and so forth.

If it makes you feel any better, I think Croatia is probably much worse than Texas in that respect. Except we don't invade other countries...
