It's always puzzled me what's a fetish and what isn't. Technically you could argue that liking boobs is a fetish, but it's so common that I guess it never gets classified as one.

One I'm always surprised to see mentioned so much is fur. Whenever I hear something about a fetish, that's often an example that comes up. Is it actually somewhat popular or is it just often mentioned because of how weird it is (my apologies if I offended anyone...)?

I've always understood fetishes as being the pinnacle of arousal, as in you can't get it going without it. For example, I think I said here that I have a redhead fetish, but that's not true. I have a redhead turn-on, for sure, but not to the point where I wouldn't be able to get it up unless there was a ginge in sight.

I thought that's what it was too, but wikipedia didn't stress it and I was too lazy to find another source.

When I hear fur get mentioned, I immediately think of furries but they technically just dress up as furry animals using faux fur and it has nothing to do with like rubbing up on a deer's fur or anything realistic. Maybe acosting cats or something.

The popularity of furries is most likely why fur gets mentioned.

I saw a fur party on CSI once and it looked hilarious, they have all kinds of special rules.
