Formula 1
I was watching today, wow...that was quite a race. Big up to Hamilton, the first black dude to win a Formula 1 race in history I think. And he's only 22. He's been riding cart since he was six, while I was still playing with Barbie dolls...( whoda thunk I'd turn out queer...)
*has a feeling this will become the most popular thread in MB history* |
damn, i was hoping you made a typo and that this was about the forumal 51 movie,

I watched him in Formula 2 last year & he was spectacular in that.
It's no secret he was going to be good in F1 , but the way he's come into it is just awesome. Not even Michael Schumacher was this good in his first season. The scary thing is this was just his 6th race , I can't even begin to imagine how good he'll be once he has a few years experience under his belt. |
Yeah, I can't believe anyone could drive so well without really knowing the track(s). Or maybe Formula 2 is ridden on the same courses? He mentioned this was his first time in Canada so...
He's quite unique, the commentators couldn't stop counting the records he was breaking. At 22, my God. Never thought I'd see the day a black man is on the top of the F1 podium, quite refreshing I must say. I hope he goes on to win the championship, I'm a little tired of always looking at the same faces (and nations) on the podiums. Also, what the hell is up with Alonso... I don't think he's too happy at the moment... |
GP 2 is only run at the European F1 race meets so this would have been the first time he's ever raced in Canada.
Which makes it even more impressive. |

why did my pic get changed D=

F1 sucks and the race was in Canada, 2 reasons why I didn't see it.
I must admit though, I watched the Kubica crash on youtube. I'm going to watch some real racing this weekend, I am going to the Nascar race in Michigan. Nascar is far superior to F1 for these reasons: 1) You can bring your own beer 2) Hundreds of competitive passes every race 3) You can bring your own beer |
I cant sit down and watch F1, i get so bored that i switch off the tv and do something else

And what's up with the Canada comment..? |
1) Circles create velocity and momentum
2) a lot more work goes into pit stops, there is a jackman and 5 lugnuts on every wheel. It takes 7 men for a service and they pull it off in 14 seconds 3) Races are rarely won in qualifying 4) hundreds of competitive passes all over the racetrack at every race, in the entire 2003 F1 season there were 4 5) It is a very fan accessable sport, they have many meet and greets with all of your favorite drivers free of charge 6) there are in excess of 160,000 people at almost every race depending on seating capacity, Talladega Superspeedway routinely packs in a quarter of a million people at both of it's races every year 7) My favorite part of the race is the singing of the star spangled banner,it may sound funny coming from a Canadian however once that anthem starts you can hear a pin drop and it finishes of with 4 F-14's buzzing the speedway. Say what you want about Americans but they really know how to do things right 8) The cars actually sound like cars, not sewing machines As for the Canada comment: First of all french Canadians are scum and the stands are mostly full of corporate fat cats that wouldn't know a brake disc from a compact disc because the tickets are so outragously priced that no one can afford them. As for Montreal......................it is a cesspool of scum. Just so Right-Track can relate, it is Canada's Liverpool |

It's actually not monotonous at all, it is exciting knowing that any one of 43 cars has a chance at the win
|
I prefer TOCA for the same reasons.
Montreal! *spits* |
I don't mind touring cars.
But then I would say that because the current World Champion is a Guernseyman :D |
Sky and BBC to share UK F1 television coverage from 2012 to 2018 - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com
Well this is a big load of ****ing balls anyway. Only showing half the races on BBC next year and those without Sky Sports like myself miss out on the other half. Hard to make sense of this. |
if Sky don't have Martin Brundell's grid-walks, I'm going to riot.
|
More than likely not as he'll probably have a contract with BBC only, not unless they have their own version of it which really just wouldn't be the same would it? BBC have always done great coverage of F1, especially in the Murray Walker days, and now Sky want to make some money off it. Wouldn't be surprised to see BBC coverage gone altogether in a few years time.
|
I just hope to god that Sky don't hire that boring bastard James 'Tyre Stratagy' Allen to commentary.
|
Martin Brundle's contract expires at the end of the season, and he said on twitter he doesnt know who he'll be working for next year.
|
I imagine the whole BBC team's contracts will be up at the end of the season.
|
They were supposed to be showing F1 until the end of the 2013 season so they'd have surely signed them all to contracts to then, no? Jake Humphreys will still be on the beeb, he does their superbowl coverage (and I imagine some other crappy sports that BBC shows).
I've heard about some agreement that means the races have to be shown on free to air tv, and that both Martin Whitmarsh and Christian Horner are against a move to Sky. Couple all of this with the fact that Sky will have lower viewing figures, which means less exposure for sponsors and therefore less money for them. They'll pull out, and Bernie Ecclestone will lose more money than what Sky ar epaying which means long term moving to Sky is not a good deal really. In short, I dont think this is over yet. |
As long as Eddie Jordan's working for neither of them I'll be happy.
Any predictions for world champion this year? I have a strong feeling it's going to be Sebastian Vettel again by the looks of it. |
You're really sticking your neck out there!! :p
|
Someone needs to make Eddie Irvine a pundit.
|
Gutted and angry that bbc will only be doing half the races next year.
I read somewhere that in 2009 they signed a 5 year deal! That was only 2 years ago! I cant stand greedy liars, Sky, so I wont be subscribing to that lot! I'll just watch a live stream on Myp2p like I do with the football. Also, I agree with the post about Eddie Irvine being a pundit. He used to do a slot on the radio on Sunday evenings which was very good. Great knowledge, laid back with a good sense of humour. I'd also stick my neck out and say Vettel will be champ again (unfortunately as I'd rather Lewis, Jensen, Mark or anyone really, wins it). I just cant take to Seb. I think it's the finger thing! Looks a bit arrogant. 2nd. Ham 3rd. Alo 4th. But 5th. Web |
There's 20 races next season and BBC is showing 10 so it's an even split. I'll probably figure out a way to stream the other 10 in the meantime. Where there's money involved there's always going to be greedy liars but sure what can you do?
Button was impressive enough today and might be in with a good shot, but I can see Vettel winning in Spa. I think the faster circuits like Spa and Monza will suit Red Bull a bit more. |
