Musical instruments study (title, cover, orchestra, quote, band)

Hey guys,

I'm doin a study for a stat project where I check correlation between the dependent variable (number of hours a junior in my school spends per week playing a musical instrument) vs. other independent variables (i.e. do they play in a band or is there any parental pressure to play). I need background research on this topic but I don't think that any statistical experiments were done concerning how much time someone spends playing an instrument per week. Seein this is a music forum, I was wondering if any of you knew of any studies or have any links which could be helpful for me because I'm gettin zero.
