Well in America it caused a huge controversy between the Federalists and Anti-Federalist about if America should go and help, but America in the end chose to maintain their policy of isolationism.
It also has something to do with why Louisiana was turned over from the Spanish to Napoleon, and Napoleon's damn expansionist policies is why he sold it to America and we got an insane amount of territory for a extremely low price, even though Jefferson had to take a loose interpretation of the clause "necessary and proper"
