The NBA Playoffs

Man, I am so psyched about this year's playoffs. Of course, I am every year. However this year, the Warriors have already pulled off what many consider to be the biggest upset in playoff history, beating the 1 seeded Mavericks. Plus, my favorite team the Houston Rockets are still in the picture. Tonight they play the Jazz.
So far, both teams to make the finals last year have already been knocked out, and we have some new comers to the second round, Warriors and Bulls (post Jordan)
I'll pick the Cavs to beat the Nets
Of course Pistons over Bulls
Rockets to finally advance to Conference finals past Jazz, then Warriors,
and Spurs to beat the Suns
No big upsets there, and then I expect Spurs to win it all. They're just too experienced, and they play smart basketball.

Utah Houston game 7 in a half hour. Utah has that. 2 People need to play up to their potentials tonight...Carlos Boozer, and Mehmet Okur. My team (Raps) got out last night which was pretty bunk. Detroit and Chicago is on right now. I call Detroit in 5. And im also soo stoked that Golden State had the upset on the Mavs. They were soo cocky. I think the most interesting series is gunna be Phoenix - San Antonio. I have no clue how thats gunna pan out.

atthedayofwhales 05-05-2007 07:07 PM

Well, Houston has the right pieces, they have great superstars, and some good complimentary players, good move by getting Shane Battier, also Rafer Alston, and people who, if they can embrace their roles, could put Houston over the top. I don't know if the Mavs were ****y, but the Warriors have about 4 or 5 players who are great scorers, and they pass and play well as a team, so they seem like an intriguing team to watch. I don't think the Suns have a prayer to beat the Spurs. It just seems like they always choke. I'm really surprised the Spurs don't win it every year.

Laces Out Dan! 05-05-2007 07:11 PM

Of course the Mavs were cocky...they said that if they didnt win the championship that the entire season was a waste of time...and they get knocked out first round by the 8th seed. And Houston does have a deep team..its gunna be a really good game i'll tell ya that. As for Phoenix...they've got the skills..they need the momentum to be a fast break offence. San Antonio is just soo skilled its gunna be hard. My guess for that series is SA in 6.

atthedayofwhales 05-05-2007 08:10 PM

Nash in, his like, 12th year, or something. Stoudemire is a monster. However, I think whenever Stoudemire truly reaches his peak, and becomes a good playoff contender, Nash will be too old. They mostly have a good young team, Stoudemire, Barbosa, Bell, Diaw, but I don't see them going anywhere with Nash, and in a few years it will be too late for him. Sadly, I think they might give the MVP to Dirk Nowitzki, which will be like pouring salt in the wound. He's going to have one tough summer, "Oh, you're the MVP, and you won 67, but you can't even get out of the first round," You just, for some reason, the Warriors really had their number.

Laces Out Dan! 05-05-2007 08:13 PM

yeah, i think Nash is getting the MVP this year...i thought it would be a close race..but since Dirk didnt even make it 2nd round..you have to give it to nash.

atthedayofwhales 05-05-2007 08:47 PM

true, but they're not supposed to take post season consideration into MVP voting. Nash, 3 straight MVP's. Who would have thought that after his first few years. I didn't even think he would ever be a decent starter. On the Rockets game, it looks like it's pretty simple for the Rockets, they need TMAC to go strong, he finishes well, and draws defenders, so he's learning to kick out to the open man. It's just going to come down to the Rockets making open jumpers, and the stars staying out of foul trouble. I'd like to see Yao makes some more moves going towards the basket to get Boozer into foul trouble, instead of the fade aways. Boozer really gave them trouble in that first half.

Laces Out Dan! 05-05-2007 08:54 PM

yeah, i know postseason isnt supposed to be considered...but we all know it is...Nash after last years 7 game series with LA made him even bigger of a star. And in regards to the Houston game...Utah is in trouble if Tmac can keep doing what you said...draw the D and kick..find luther head or Alston for the open shot. Also..if he can drive and go strong to the hole thats gunna hurt the Utah interior because he's so hard to stop..he'll start drawing fouls.

atthedayofwhales 05-05-2007 10:32 PM

What a sorry, sorry exhibition that was Houston vs. Jazz. I don't think they can bring enough guys in to ever get T-Mac past the first round. It seems like they didn't even want to win. Also, at the end of the game, tmac showed no emotion whatsoever in losing. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like, if he doesn't feel any pain from this experience, he won't come back with the hunger to finally get past the first round, and probably never will. Awful, awful, awful.

atthedayofwhales 05-07-2007 07:47 PM

I'm watching the Bulls play the Pistons, and I couldn't help but notice that Ben Gordon has been way off all series. He can get so hot that he can make almost any shot, and it seems like he's only made a couple of shots this whole series. Also Luol Deng, I'm not too impressed with, seems like he's always making dumb defensive errors and doesn't play a good team game. Chauncey Billups kind of reminds me of Sam Cassell, no matter what game, he almost always seems like the most confident player on the floor, and excels at the end of games.
I noticed Dwayne Wade and Tracy McGrady are out already, and they both have been in silly commercials that keep airing. One, where TMac hurls a goat like a discuss, wearing a kilt, and just really stupid commercial. Dwayne Wade is in a golf commercial where he actually lifts his left foot on the follow through of his putt. It's ridiculous. Also, Wade is in one where he refers to Sir Charles as 'sesy', it bortders on creepy from a guy who was one of the most upstanding players a year ago. I guess the lesson to be learned is if you make silly ridiculous commercials around playoff time, you lose.

atthedayofwhales 05-07-2007 08:02 PM

that's sad

.V. 05-07-2007 08:24 PM

i was pissed that houston got knocked out, i felt sorry for tmac who was obviously shaken at the post game interview.
i think its detroit in the finals for east. suns in west. thats the finals matchup

Laces Out Dan! 05-07-2007 08:43 PM

Suns wont beat San Antonio

atthedayofwhales 05-07-2007 08:53 PM

Go Warriors! I never liked the Jazz going back to the 90's.
I actually take Spurs over Cavs in finals.

atthedayofwhales 05-07-2007 08:58 PM

LOL I just heard Reggie Miller say that AK 47 might average a quadruple double for this serious,
yeah, Miller time
yeah, I think he's kind of drunk

Laces Out Dan! 05-07-2007 09:07 PM

Haha, no way reggie miller is drunk...and i heard him say that as well. Golden State lives and dies by their 3 point shot..right now they've got the touch.

atthedayofwhales 05-07-2007 09:18 PM

I think the only player who ever got a quad-double even once was David Robinson, and he did it twice.

.V. 05-08-2007 03:49 PM

o gawd i hate san antonio. i take suns over them, simply a preference, but as far as skill, im not sure, the suns are a little underestimated by a lot of people recently. i mean, hey the warriors shocked the mavs, could happen again.

Are you kidding...they're the team with the biggest hype in the playoffs this year...maybe Detroit has more..but they back it up with a recent championship...as for San Antonio..i like them a lot. Tony Parker and "The Big Fundamental" are such skilled and smart players. Michael Finley always finds a way to step it up in the playoffs too.

.V. 05-09-2007 04:12 PM

i know, saying the suns are undersestimated sounds a little f'in crazy, i realize that, but it seems like in this particular match they are. everyone thinks it will be the spurs. keep in mind, san antonio got their a55es handed to them last night, losing by twenty.
maybe suns then? eh, maybe?? lol

Moon Pix 05-13-2007 10:35 AM

I just got two words for ya - Luol Deng.

Laces Out Dan! 05-13-2007 11:32 AM

He reaally needs to step it up if they wanna have this series last a little longer...him, Ben Gordon, and Heinrich.

atthedayofwhales 05-13-2007 06:37 PM

The only team left I care about is Golden State, I actually like all the teams, but this is the one I'm really rooting for. They obviously have to find a way to win in Utah, or they're going home, which is sad, because I know Utah doesn't stand a chance against whoever in the next round. While Golden State wouldn't have a prayer against the Spurs, I still think it would be fun to watch. Nets, sorry but Vince Carter is always one of the worst playoff performers, IMO. Bulls, they could make the Eastern Finals next year. Suns, they're fun, but since Phoenix is easily one of my least favorite cities, so I really don't mind if they get beat.

Chicago are out! God, after that performance in Game 5 I was definitely expecting there to be a Game 7, despite the fact that Deng was nowhere at all in Game 5 it seemed to me. After the amount points he scored in the game against Miami a couple of weeks ago I was expecting him to be really in this game against Detroit but he didnt seem to be.

I wish I could watch more basketball. Living in the UK the coverage is practically none existent. I get to see one live game and a 30 minute roundup show and thats my basketball for the whole week. I dont get to see anywhere near as much as Id like to.

Laces Out Dan! 05-18-2007 02:22 PM

I've watched pretty much every playoff game...i guess im just a lucky north american haha...ALSO..San Antonio ftw tonight

atthedayofwhales 05-19-2007 08:46 AM

I was really excited to watch the Cavs-Nets game last night just to know that one of the players-Lebron James or Vince Carter would finally make it to the conference finals, and it's my man, Lebron. He actually showed a real killer instinct in that game. His shooting wasn't too great, but he made the ones that counted, and set the tone for his teammates early.
The Suns almost came back, and it was cool to see them all shaking hands at the end of one violent series, it was basically one hard foul after another, and I like Stoudemire, but he shouldn't have come off the bench in that one game, that casued the suspension.
I like Cavs over Pistons in 6
and Spurs over Jazz in 5

Laces Out Dan! 05-19-2007 12:56 PM

but dont you know...stoudemire was just about to check in haha...that was there excuse for why he was coming off the bench. Clearly didnt fool anyone if you see the expression in his face when he gets up.

Pistons in 5
Spurs in 6

Bane of your existence 05-30-2007 11:41 AM

Cavs'll take the east.

Bane of your existence 05-30-2007 11:59 AM

P.S. Kobe just asked to be traded

FOX Sports on MSN - NBA - Trade me: Kobe tells Lakers he wants out

Laces Out Dan! 05-30-2007 05:19 PM

OMG!!!
Thats huge news...the franchise..will very likely lose the franchise player..i'd hate to be a Lakers fan right now.

.V. 05-30-2007 09:44 PM

wherever kobe goes, i bet he takes a lot of "laker fans" read "kobe fans"
with him

Laces Out Dan! 05-30-2007 09:46 PM

Are there many Kobe fans outside of LA? haha

Bane of your existence 06-01-2007 01:22 AM

If they can keep him they should do everything they can to do so, but if it's going to cause problems they should see if they can get Kevin Durant out of the deal. After all they did say they are a re-building team.

ccorces1 06-04-2007 04:28 PM

i think kobe is awesome, lots of people hate his guts but he seems like a cool guy to me, plus he is a sick ball player

dirt mcgirt 06-04-2007 07:47 PM

ayo, i got word from tha inside that tha oilers, tha packers an tha pistons are gonna go at it 3-way.

Laces Out Dan! 06-04-2007 08:39 PM

I dunno man, i think the Oilers are gunna take it.
